Since 1 February 2023, Madopar is only available in sealed bottles of 100 tablets in the UK and pharmacists will not issue small amounts. If your prescription is, for example, 224 tablets, the pharmacy will round this down to 200. The problem is pharmacists do not tell you, and hand over bottles in sealed bags, so you suspect nothing. Parkinson sufferers get home and don't remember what the prescription said and don't query it. Pharmacy expect you to know by osmosis and to query a shortfall you're not really aware of. Our local pharmacy has made enough errors over the last few months for us to be suspicious why medications do not last between repeat prescriptions. (Including Libre sensors and Metformin and Simvastatin). We took a photocopy of latest prescription before handing it in. I opened packaging in the pharmacy, noticed 200 instead of 224 Madopar, queried it and was told to go to doctor to notify I needed multiples of 100 in future. Pharmacy usually queries prescription errors with doctor and will rerequest a prescription there and then if error made (They will read Libre 2 sensors as being a 2 pack for example when Libre 2 is the name of the product and only comes as 1 per pack) Fuming, went to doctor got new prescription. Pharmacy then refused to serve me saying I had been disrespectful and made them uncomfortable. They refused to apologise or explain 2 shortfall prescriptions of Madopar, and lack of any previous explanations re new bottle policy. Also failed to address lack of Simvastatin in the medicines bag, doctor having confirmed pharmacy had recorded Simvastatin was issued as well as 224 Madopar. Beware pharmacy sharp practices to hide their negligence and theft. Photocopy prescription and check what you're given there and then. Metformin has been missing in the past. There is a black market for this as a slimming aid. I rest being blamed by the pharmacy so they could hide their apparent theft, fraud and negligence. MAKE SURE YOUR MADOPAR PRESCRIPTION IS FOR MULTIPLES OF 100 ONLY. MAKE SURE IN THE PHARMACY THAT YOU RECEIVE ALL YOU HAVE ORDERED. I have spent 3 entire afternoons in a fortnight , chasing pharmacy errors. My stress levels are massive. And it is my spouse who has Parkinsons, not me. I fail to see how a Parkinsons sufferer would suite this minefield. Will be changing nominated pharmacy and doctor has made a complaint about their shortfalls and errors

my madopar comes as 1x 100 mg bottle sealed, and the rest in a non sealed bottle. But perhaps we’re more sensible in Scotland!
I picked my prescription up from Asda pharmacy this week. Should be 168 Madopar. I was told rules have just changed and can only be dispensed in 100 tablets so we are giving you 200. Perfect I said. I would suggest you change pharmacy and avoid getting stressed about it.
