Serious Confusion Regarding Fasting

Since I started my change in diet and exercise last fall, I had been fasting from dinner to lunch everyday, approx 18hrs.

Then I read that fasting every-other-day was more beneficial from the BBB, and started to do that on the same schedule, dinner to lunch.

My stiffness and tremors seem to be more active now than before, but I can't determine if it's the change in fasting or something else, anyone have similar issues or advice?

Always appreciative of our group!😀

The mice did not reveal wether they experienced more stiffness and tremors 😀

Intermittent fasting protects the nigral dopaminergic neurons from MPTP-mediated dopaminergic neuronal injury in mice (2022 Nov 10 / Uttam Ojha  a.o.)

Abstract: "Dietary restriction through low-calorie intake or intermittent fasting benefits many organs, including the brain. This study investigated the neuroprotective effects of fasting in a 1-methyl-4-phenyl-1,2,3,6-tetrahydropyridine (MPTP) mouse model of Parkinson's disease. We found that fasting every other day rather than weekly increased the levels of brain-derived neurotrophic factor and glial-derived neurotrophic factor in the nigrostriatal pathway. Therefore, we maintained the animals on alternate-day fasting for 2 weeks and injected MPTP (30 mg/kg/day, intraperitoneally [i.p.]) for five days. We observed that alternate-day fasting attenuated MPTP-induced dopaminergic neuronal loss and astroglial activation in the substantia nigra and the striatum. Moreover, neurochemical analysis using high-performance liquid chromatography showed that alternate-day fasting reduced MPTP-induced depletion of striatal dopamine. Consistent with these results, behavioral tests showed that fasting suppressed the motor impairment caused by MPTP........"

Esperanto, I do believe it was the article that I had read. Which leads to the big question, what has caused my tremors and stiffness to increase? The only change that I am aware of is that I have eaten some carbs lately, but not in abundance!

I read it from an article on here recently.

The study cited by Esperanto compares IF every other day to fasting weekly, not every day and reports improvement which might mean the more fasting, , i.e., every day, the better. Secondly, it was a study of MPTP mice which, personally, I would not change my diet over.

It may or may not be your increase in carbs. Only the Good Lord knows and she ain't saying.

can you go back to the daily fasting schedule you were originally doing and see if that causes the stiffness and tremors to revert back as well?
