Great (short) video on HEALING with AUTOPHAGY (fasting!)

Today is day #332 of my O.M.A.D. (one meal a day).

I eat fewer than 1,500 calories and all within a 2 hour window.

So I am fasting at least 22 hours daily ... and sometimes much more.

I still eat (cauliflower crust) pizza, potatoes, fruit, mean, dairy, chips...

but everything must have 'healthy ingredients'.

I've lost about 60 pounds.

I've lost my morning stiffness. I can 'move' easily (getting UP from a chair 1-2-3!)

You'd be surprised how EASY it is to do this lifestyle change (especially when you know the CONSEQUENCES if you don't!).

Stay strong!

Thank you very much for the post PDWarrior. I am starting a 16:8 intermittent fasting today and your post is a timely encouragement. If anyone is interested, please see the video below of Dr Matt Phillips, one of the world authorities on fasting and Parkinson’s.

Michel,

I tried the 16/8 fast after reading so many articles touting its benefits. I went for well over 6 months and gained a very small amount of weight. After finishing that, I switched to one meal a day or a 23/1 which for me was easier to do than the 16/8. I went from 178/180lbs down to just below 165lbs in about a month. It wasn't as hard to do as I expected, but I didn't really want to go lower than 165lbs so I now do most days at one meal a day and then do a day of 16/8 every so often or I do one meal a day but allow three hours to consume my meal and dessert and so I never really feel confined by this diet and can maintain my weight in the 165lbs to 170lbs range where I feel fairly comfortable. I eat whatever I want.

My niece on the other hand uses the 16/8 and it has allowed her to lose weight and keep it off. She is significantly more active than me though, so that might be why it works well for her, but not for me.

Thank you very much Art for sharing your experience. Did you experience any symptom improvements in addition to weight loss?

Nothing apparent, but I imagine blood testing might show some improvements. I was kind of frustrated at not losing any weight while on 16/8 and one meal a day has always been my go to when I want to lose weight fairly quickly so I switched and managed to do that during the holiday season which I thought was going to be really tough, but wasn't too bad for me. I think if I can do OMAD during the holiday season, then I can do it indefinitely or at least I can do the combination fasting indefinitely.

One thing that OMAD showed me was how much eating I was doing out of habit and not from hunger.
