Nausea and intermittent fasting

I try to refrain from eating between 8pm and 11 or 12pm the following day. Lately I’ve been having trouble with nausea when I take my morning c/l dose. I haven’t changed the dose.

Suggestions of how to avoid the nausea without eating? I’d like to maintain the intermittent fasting.

Thanks!

I take generic version of sinemet ER, which stands for extended release. Haven't had any nausea with it. How is your intermittent fasting working out? Have you noticed any positive effects from it?

I don't expect to necessarily have positive effects -- I just hope that this can help to slow progression along with proper diet, exercise, etc.

I sure hope so.

My husband started intermittent fasting a few weeks and has felt bad. Almost as bad as when he was at his worst. Not sure if it is the fasting or something else. We stopped mannitol at the same time so maybe it was that. Stupid to change 2 things at once :(

He was feeling really good before that. He takes uridine with his sinemet in the morning and leaves half an hour before food or other supplements. He had a few bad experiences taking a multi with b6 too close to the sinemet and it was horrible!

Hope it's going to even out for him.

Thanks. Today after eating his breakfast at 9.45 he said he got a cold tingling sweaty feeling and had to lie down. He had his sinemet and uridine an hour or so before. Do you have any idea about what that feeling might be? He thought it seemed like when you get a stomach bug and feel like you might pass out or vomit.

He has whole grain oats for breakfast with a spoon of milk whey, stewed plums and small amount of milk, with tea.

. He is getting hard to get up in the morning again Now it’s winter.

No, I’m sorry, I don’t know what that would be. You could post the question in a new thread and you might get an answer.

Ok good idea

I don't know either. The only thing maybe you can stop uridine for a while and see if it makes a difference. Maybe he became sensitive to it.

Ok I’ll try that. I have bought a glucose meter so will try measuring blood sugars for a few days and see if that’s it.

if he had low blood sugar his heart would be beating fast and it would be pounding

Ok thanks. Not that then. Might still be the autophagy making him ill?

I don't think so, but I don't know what, unless he had a bug.

Mmm that’s possible I suppose. I’ll see what happens tomorrow.

If someone has figured out how to fast and not get sick I want to know how it's done too. If I don't eat after about 30 minutes to an hour of taking my C/L I can get very sick. It seems to depend on how empty my stomach is and maybe how tired I am. The other day, upon returning from a 1.5 hour long bike ride, I took my regular dose of C/L and hopped into the shower. Right about the time i got out of the shower I was assaulted by intense nausea and cold sweats that came on very suddenly. It was terrible. Fortunately, eating and laying down made it subside relatively quickly. I've experienced that illness from not eating before. In fact, that's why I normally carry snacks with me wherever I go. That episode was particularly intense, perhaps from being worn out from the vigorous bike ride.

Did you have sufficient water on and after the vigorous bike ride? You should be having lots of clear or lightly colored pee. Best wishes.

Hi rebtar:

If you are taking instantaneous release C/L, try a controlled release formulation (e.g., Sinemet CR, Rytary, ...).

BTW, I have been experimenting with 16:8 fasting like you are doing. My primary objective is a desire to lose a "stubborn last 5-10 pounds". But also, I find myself to be an "undisciplined" eater (not good at limiting when and what I eat), and this doesn't go well with C/L effectiveness (food timing and content impact the effectiveness of the C/L). For me, intermittent fasting adds some discipline and consistency to C/L effectiveness. Also, my doses are at 5 AM, 10 AM, and 3 PM, so this means my 5 AM and 10 AM doses are within the fasting interval!

I did my first successful 16:8 fast yesterday and the effectiveness of my 5 AM and 10 AM doses was good (and it is quite satisfying to successfully demonstrate some self control!)...

Thanks, I've been considering that. Also, I'm going to contact my pharmacist to see if there's been a change of C/L manufacturer.

Taking Rytary has eliminated those effects I used to have taking c/l on an empty stomach.
