I am posting this as I brought up the fact that some YouTubers are turning against intermittent fasting on the Zoom call today.
This video is not about IF and PD, it is just about IF in general. It has a lot of good information and even has advice for things to do to improve IF if that is what you want to stick with:
Why Many People Are Abandoning Intermittent Fasting - Dr Brad Stanfield
The first guy raced through the talking points, but I didn’t disagree with anything he said. Slim Land made a good rebuttal. Sure it’s harder to meet your protein and caloric goals in a shorter time window. You just have to plan it. Slim Land hammered down the importance of resistance training. I train with a professional trainer two times per week, and do my own maintenance on off days. I try to train in the morning while still in fasting state. Somebody asked where do I get the energy? You can go a long way on keto with MCT’s and coffee. I don’t know how you do it on a carb diet. BTY I’m 76 yo and maintaining my weight. For more information on autophagy and IF, go to Dr Eric Berg on YouTube.
In my old age and from years of reading these posts, it has become clear that we can find opposing studies and doctors on every single aspect of our health.
I am not going to throw out the wisdom of interment fasting on the say-so of one doctor or even a few doctors. (I trust the Nobel Committee more than Dr. Stanfield.)
I watch a lot of Dr. Stanfield videos and I cannot help but notice that in most of his videos he takes a contrarian position, which he does to accumulate clicks and increases his subscriber base. I also notice that he has changed his position on several issues, so I’m just going to wait for him to flip-flop on intermittent fasting.
Counter arguments for the sake of annoying people, I guess. Another example; a few years ago in the news it was reported that flossing does nothing positive.
