Hello! I realize that everyone is different, but, to hear your experience will be a great help. I’ve seen a couple of PWP in this forum WHO are in the 100% pure MP. My husband started taking the mucuna 3 months ago, he’s currently taking one Barlowe’s, 5 tsp 3.3 mucuna powder and one sinemet every 3 hrs.

Please let me hear from those who are using the 100% pure MP, how much, what are you taking it with, are you still taking PD Rx drugs?

If there was a conversation about this in the past, kindly direct me.

I look forward hearing from you. Thank you.

Plug in the key word/words and you will see more posts, also check to the top right for related posts. Each time more and more mucuna topics will appear. Also go to Topics...My Experience, and try plugging in your keyword.

I take 98% and have great relief from it. I still take some minimal meds and that’s only because I’m unsure how to go about weaning myself off them. I take these first thing in the morning and then it’s MP for the rest of the day 😊

How much each time and do you mix it with what liquid? How long does it last!

Thank you, jeeves19! I really appreciate your reply🙏🏽

I take one quarter of a teaspoon (exactly. Get a spoon that offers this and even try smaller as you may need to build up to this). I also take an eighth of a teaspoon of matcha tea powder. I use sparkling water and stir well then down it. Gives me 4 hours being normal.

Thank you, jeeves19! Good luck to your PD journey.🙏🏽

What brand do you use?

pdwife41yrs profile image
pdwife41yrs in reply tocamper1

Barlowe’s and the powder with no name. I want my husband to try the 100% and use less, but, I’m worried that it maybe too strong. Thanks.

Hi. My husband has been diagnosed with PD. He is taking Levadopa, wondering if he can mix with Mucuna as Dr doesn’t seem to help in Herbals

pdwife41yrs profile image
pdwife41yrs in reply toArcade786

My husband has PD for over 12 yrs, he was taking2.5 sinemet every 2.5 hrs and was still not very effective. He was experiencing freezing and stiffness before each doses, nightmares, and hallucinations and dyskinesia. He started mucuna early this year, it took a while for him to figure out the right dose, with the help of our daughter who did an extensive research, he’s been feeling great, it was so worth it.

Please see my daughter’s posting “Medicine/Supplement Regime (Mucuna, etc)” - pdkid, 25 days ago. Good luck!

Thanks for prompt reply, just wondering if he can mix with his prescribed meds

My husband is currently mixing one grounded sinemet with mucuna powder. Sinemet is needed as mucuna doesn’t have carbidopa.

Can you pse adv which brand your husband taking it

pdwife41yrs profile image
pdwife41yrs in reply toArcade786

He is taking:

DopaBoost (Mucuna 425 mg contain 60% L-Dopa, L-Tyrosine 750 mg, green tea extract 100 mg, Quercitin 100 mg)

DopaMax (Mucuna 100 mg contain 60% L-Dopa)

He take the above alternately every dose mixed with one Sinemet.

Dopa Max doesn't contain levodopa according to the description of the product.

pdwife41yrs profile image
pdwife41yrs in reply toDespe

Hi Dedpe, DopaMax, has 100 mg of 60% extract Mucuna Pruriens (as indicated on the label of the bottle) which is equivalent to 60 mg of Levadopa per capsule.

Where do you get it? It's funny, yesterday I could find it on Amazon, but not today.

amazon.com/Dopa-Capsules-In...

Found it again. I read the ingredients which do not mention Levodopa.

Thank u for the info, does it help with PD tremors, how is your husband doing?

pdwife41yrs profile image
pdwife41yrs in reply toArcade786

My husband is rigid dominant, he doesn’t have tremors. The Mucuna Pruriens helps diminish his rigidity and freezings; hallucinations and nightmares are totally gone. Honestly, he is doing very well. Before the Mucuna regimen, I thought our lives are going down the hill. I am very thankful for HU Forum, we learned a lot from others who are in the same situation.

That’s great to hear. I’m learning and want to help him as he got it in young age, he is 48yrs. Both hands tremor a lot. Where do u buy Mucuna products. I can start him with lower dosage so he can start as he takes prescribed meds but seems not helping very much

May I ask where you are? We are in Canada.

Arcade786 profile image

We are in Calgary, Alberta. Canada

pdwife41yrs in reply toArcade786

How long your husband had the PD? What med is he on?

We were able to buy some DopaMax and Dopaboost in US, but, for some reason, they no longer ship to Canada. We still get Mucuna Pruriens from Sunrise Botanics. They are based here in Ontario, their Email: info@sunrisebotanics.com, their Toll Free: 1-888-612-6461 and 289-201-7887. If you order, tell them to make sure to send you the pure one without any contaminant. We bought about 3 mos ago, 2 bags of 4 lbs, the powder was mixed with some sandy, blackish thing that didnt get dissolve in liquid. We returned and they replaced them, no problem. Also, we consulates a naturopath, she advised to dissolve it in lemon juice for better absorption.

You may want to buy the book “Natural Remedies in Parkinson’s Disease” by Dr. Rafael Gonzales Maldonado. It’s available in Amazon. You will learn a lot about PD from the book.

Correction, “we consulted a naturopath” 😇

Check out Steve’s post. I’ve also been using the same mucuna Steve uses for about 2 years now. Amazing results, sometimes feel as though Parkinson’s is disappeared 😎
