Legit Stem Cell therapy for Parkinson’s, particularly young onset

I’d like to know if anyone knows of a reputable clinic anywhere in the world offering this treatment?

I assume that by "legit" you mean approved by an authority such as the FDA in the US.

AFAIK, there aren't any. "Stem cells for PD" is still in the research phase.

I just mean has anyone found a private clinic doing this treatment and gone through the process with success?I found one called Swiss medica but seems sketchy

So you are looking for people who have rolled the dice and won. After you have found one (or more), you will then decide whether to roll the dice as well.

Good luck.

There are a few, in particular there is the Stem Cell Institute which treats Mel Gibson and others in Panama.

You could contact them and inquire further:

I think your post is a valuable idea. I used to know a guy who went to a Russian cancer clinic to duplicate a stem cell trial for MS when he was unable to get into the trial in America. It worked for him.

So if you can find a center in a foreign country willing to duplicate a trial being done somewhere else, it is worth looking into.

First ask yourself “why hasn’t my country made it legit?”

My country allows people to base jump off a cliff in a wing suit with a dog on your back, but does not allow patients the right to try.

I'm not saying there is a legit stem cell center. More likely to have better luck finding a medical center NOT specializing in stem cell treatments and get them to duplicate a trial in progress. That is what George Goss did for his MS: themscure.blogspot.com/

Have you - how can i put this delicately - lost your mind?

We arent talking about building a flat pack coffee table here. You cant download the instructions from the internet. It's bleeding edge brain surgery that has thus far only been attempted in a tiny number of people and youre dangling the suggestion that one might be able to convince a medical center to have a stab at it?

'Luck' is apt here: youre going to need a shitload of it just staying out of the morgue.

I knew I worded that inarticulately. You want a center that is expert at stem cells, just not one that is in the business of selling stem cell treatments to the public. That will be hard to find.

This is the only one in human trials and sanctioned by the FDA (that I am aware of). They are currently in a new trial with 10 more participants: healthunlocked.com/cure-par...

Maybe you could find a center that would and could duplicate what the Harvard group did for "Doc", which seems to have worked wonders for him? That might be better than going to a clinic that's doing who-knows-what? (I guess that's more or less what Bolt suggests above.)

Any stem cell trials in the uk?

Yes. Coming up. Under Prof. Roger Barker of Cambridge University. About to start recruiting. You’ll have to make sure you qualify as there will be criteria, possibly age or medication related. Roger’s email address is on the linked page. He’s generally very quick to reply. And. If you search his name here on HU you might find a recording of a webinar he did for some of us a few months ago. Via NoSilverBullet.

The Prof is very nice. I’ll chase him later.

He sent me this in February of this year:

Nice to hear from you.

I will be back in touch once i have gained all the necessary permissions to start this trial, but if you do not hear anything from me - then hassle me!!

All the best.

Roger

Chased him and this back within the hour:

Thanks., still waiting for approval from regulatory authorities as they had quite a lot of questions on cell manufacturing that we are now answering.

So still in play.

The reason there's none available in your country or any other country for that matter is because it hasn't been proven to work yet. Any one claiming otherwise is simply lieing.

What I believe (though someone might prove me wrong, they'd have a hard time doing it) is that the only true long-term stem cell treatment for PD is transplantation into the correct part of your brain. That means surgery. If the center is injecting them or spraying them up your nose you might be getting some cells to float randomly around making dopamine, but not properly. Those centers might believe in themselves, or not, but I wouldn't waste money on them.

I do not think true stem cell transplantation is happening ANYWHERE except in research trials. It's frustrating.

What you can do right now is whatever you can to protect the neurons you DO have. There are lots of strategies, though I suppose not everyone agrees on what they are :o)

there are Stem Cell research trials getting off the ground here in Miami at Miami University hospital. I understand that you have to be far along in PD to qualify because there are many risks in stem cell treatment.

Great to hear, but not very useful. Do you have a link or two that you could share?
