Thanks for the post, I just turned 75. The “inconvenient truth” is that PD = accelerated aging. An attempt to hold back the tide requires a multi- faceted approach on the levels of Mind-Body-Spirit: diet, nutrition (supplements), sleep hygiene, physical training, stress reduction, and whatever contributes to a positive attitude. The idea is to “not go gently into that good night” of debilitation from disease progression. A couple things I’m doing: started strength training with a physical trainer. Goal for myself: strength + endurance (walking) + Tai Chi training = 2 hours per day. Not easy. For positive attitude, my wife and I are studying “A Course in Miracles” (ACIM). But that’s another story. Anyhow good luck out there. And don’t give up.
We ought to be optimistic, Neuro! My friend's neighbor (Florida) was diagnosed when he was 80! He lived another 15 years (recently passed away). He was an Air Force pilot who was involved with Agent Orange. . .
When I was in my early 30s, my friend and colleague had a birthday office party (in a TS vault). She was turning 45, and I asked her how she felt turning 45. Obviously to me 45 at that time wasn't young. She turned and replied to me "I thank God for letting me reaching 45. I hope he will bless me with another 45." I didn't know what to reply, just agreed with her.
Yesterday, I asked my hubby of 83years in age (has PD), does he feel 83? He replied no, I feel 60. I just turned 70yo and feel 50. Hubby also said he's happy.
one of my favorite quotes..... from a pillow on Bette Davis couch....BETTE DAVIS (1908-1989). Quoted by Paul Newman, James Lipton television interview, Inside the Actors Studio, BVO, 31 May 1995..........excellant! cheers!
Getting old ain’t for sissies, getting old is for those BLESSED with a long lifespan.
Old people who complain about being old could perhaps benefit from some perspective
