Low dose lithium

I just started taking 1mg of lithium each morning.

I have been reading about low-dose lithium for several years. I am looking forward to potential benefits.

I had a consult with Dr. Laura Mischley in Washington state. I live in NJ so it was a remote visit. She ordered tests of my hair follicles, and it showed I had extremely low Lithium. I’ve been taking 5 mg’s a day since January and am feeling noticeably better! Some days with no issues at all! She did her PHD on Llthium deficiency and PD. I highly recommended it, IF YOU NEED IT! You should get your levels checked first!

What company did the hair follicle testing?

I don’t recall, but I needed a script from Dr. Mischley. She sees patients from all over. But her fee is around $400. She doesn’t take insurance outside of her state. If you can pay the $400 she’s worth it. You can also join her study. She is an excellent resource! Good luck!

I've had low levels of lithium from hair analysis performed by Doctor's Data which was ordered by Dr. Mischley and was recommended 20mg of lithium orotate/day.

No. Is that sold without perscription?

Yes, and there are volumes of info about it on this site under HDT ( High dose thiamine HCL ), or vitamin B1 . If you belong to Facebook go to poster Roy Props HDT page. You'll find answers to all your questions.

I am now taking 2 grams of taurine a day, one in the morning and one at bedtime for sound sleep.

There is a potential side effect of lithium accumulation when taken with taurine

Give it 2 solid weeks and let us know how you do ! I'm a big fan of lithium orotate supplementation. I think it saved my soul!

Did it help ease anxiety too ?

Not really.. definitely the depression!

in reply tobassofspades

How much do you take? I’m just about to start it.

I take 15mg/ day. I was directed to try 15-20mg per day. I sarted with 10, noticed a nice improvement in mental clarity after 2 weeks. Some time later down the line as my apathy and depression got worse I upped it to 15 a day and that was even better. Im sorry to say that I dont notice any improvement in motor symptoms from this, just non motor. If you decide to try it, give it a solid 2 weeks to see a difference. At least 2 weeks. Thats how long it always took for me.

in reply tobassofspades

Thank you! I’m going to start it today with just 5 mg. I did not know it is okay to go up to 15mg. I need to research more!

Can you combine lithium orotate with SSRIs? The doctor prescribed sertraline for my PWP.
