My husband is on a similar routine and he has terrible dystonia that started middle of last year. We haven't been able to get him great relief and after his 4th madopar and some mucuna I try to get him to ease off of it before bed. So he doesn't usually take any levadopa for sleep. What has been working is 10mg of melatonin and hour before bed. If he's having bad dystonia at this time I give him L- theanine 150mg and 2 capsules L-theonate, seems to help a lot! Good luck
Thank you for your reply. He's only had the dystonia recently, so must be something to do with the Madopar, as he's been taking mucuna for a lot longer. I read on this forum that pickle juice helps with dystonia, but probably works for some and not for others.
We're currently trying to do the Wahls protocol, and also getting my husband's methylation DNA analysed. So many things to try, but hoping to persevere with the diet and supplements. It's hard work!
You really should take advice from your movement specialist, but having said that i will tell you what I take. Madopar in Canada is called Prolopa and comes in capsules. I am taking three capsules (100/25) every three hours all day, but 2 capsules at 11.00 pm and two at 3.00 am. On this schedule I got dystonia in the evening and was given Tab, Pramipexole 0.25 mg, one in the evening. It worked like magic for me - so you might ask your specialist if you could try it..
Thank you so much for that. We were also advised about doing 2 tabs at night, but it really knocked my husband out, he wasn't keen on how it felt. It might be more right for him now, so worth a try.
He's a very stressy fellow... and he's finally mastering doing meditations, which really helps with the night's sleep, but it's only been after some really terrible night-times that he's taking it seriously...
I am taking three capsules every three hours, that is at 6.00 am, 9.00 am, 12.00pm., 3.00 pm, 6.00 pm and 9.00 pm., then two caps at 11.00pm at two at 3.00 am.Total 22 capsules a day
It adds up to a high dose, I have been on this dose for two years, with no side effects.
I try not to eat for 30minutes after each dose.
The only way I can remember to take the meds , is I have an Apple Watch, with the alam set to vibrate and ring every three hour!
