I take it for its Th-17/IL-17 potent inhibiting effects at relatively low dose.
My husband had his B1 levels tested and for him they were normal, so he has focused more on what what out of range for him (uric acid, vitamin D and vitamin B12). He isn't done with his lab tests yet so there might be more for him to focus on in the future, but so far B1 seems fine as is in his case.

Serum test will not reveal B1 deficiency in the brain and normal diet/supplementation of B1 will not restore the deficiency as the result of deficient thiamine transporter. The way around this is through very high dose B1 hcl (passive diffusion) or through B1 derivatives such as TTFD/Allithiamine (crosses the BBB) and Benfotiamine that restore the transporter function through high bioavailability. Look into B1 supplementation. You may get pleasantly surprised.
I have taken sublingual B1 since 2017 with great success. Within a couple of months rigidity went, facial expression returned, walking improved, bradykinesia improved, and no increase in medication for five years.
Dap1948,Can you be sure that it was the B1 mononitrate and not something else that caused the improvement? Was it a doctor that advised you to try high dose B1?
I can be sure that it was the B1. I trial only one thing at a time and keep a thorough symptom diary. I even stopped it for four months. Initially fatigue re-emerged, but after three months, rigidity started to come back and slowness. I went back on the B1 and all was well again within a few weeks. It did happen to be a doctor who told me about B1 and the work of Dr Costantini, however he was a friend with PD, a retired doctor but not my doctor. My doctors and neurologist, while being staggered that in my 12th year since diagnosis I have so few symptoms, are only mildly interested in what might have caused this.

But you did write that it took months to get improvement.
One of my problems was I didn’t notice the improvements myself. I remember smiling one day and thinking “this feels different” and another day while having a massage I thought “gosh I’m sinking deeper into relaxation than normal”. Then I went out more and joined things and it still didn’t dawn on me that it was because I had more energy. Then my friends started to tell me I was looking better and was moving better... dah! May I ask what dosage & brand of sublingual B1 you are using, Dap1948?
