After reading about Mucuna and sleep I found two opposite views:
1. Mucuna does help with sleep.
2. Mucuna can cause insomnia.
Does anyone know whether mucuna in general helps with sleep? Any experiences?

without mucuna, i cannot sleep, i need mucuna at 9pm and then during the night around 2am
I suspect the right amount might help but too much levodopa definitely hinders sleep
We've used mucuna for a long time. It depends on the type of mucuna used. There are many many strengths. It is basically levodopa, so depends where you are with your PD journey. Please msg me if you need any more info re mucuna. We've found it helpful.
For me, 10+ years of taking mucuna with sinemet whenever I dose, I wouldn't be able to sleep without my pre-bed dose of 1/2 sinemet + mucuna(plus one 50/200 ER c/l). I think of mucuna as a levadopa source with some possible naturally occurring unknowns used for thousands of years to treat diseases. That is the reason I split my levadopa source between lab made sinemet and more natural.
With PD you need to experiment yourself. Even with all the great info here, we react differently to things. All the best...
It is part of all my doses along with a whole or half of a Sinemet. It has been good to me over the past 10 years or so.
can u please tell me what brand and dosage you use ty!
I have mild PD symptoms. Meds prescribed gave me awful side effects. Went off all med mid June. Started Dopa Mucuna 26/6/23. My sleep pattern is the same - waking every 2 hours hard to get back to sleep (this was the same on C/L, Madopar and Rogitine. Now take over the counter sleeping pill every second night. Wake only once during night - easy to get back to sleep. No residual sleepiness during day. DM Seems to help stop some LH tremors. I take 2 early morning, but I feel a little "druggy" about 2 hours later. Am going to take at night to see what happens.
