I can't figure why your neuo would suggest PARSON as your primary PD med. generic sinemet IR in the US (Medicare) costs ONE PENNY per 25/100 tablet.
As to fava....fava contains only about 1% L-Dopa (sprouts slightly more) but will increase peak plasma L-Dopa much longer than mucuna or sinemet IR (about 5-6 hours due to carbidopa in fava which mucuna does not contain). However, achievement of higher plasma levels require massive amounts of fava (100-200 grams consumed per day). So figure $5 per day for bulk fava beans (Goya 454 grams for $11 USD).
Sorry for the misunderstanding. give it a try. see if it works. the ingredients are very good but may not be sufficient enough. you may need to buy some or all independently.
The 2nd element, uncaria rhyncophylla, is an old TCM herb better known as "cat's claw" also known as "Gou-teng". It may inhibit HSP90, regulate critical pathways like MAPK, and increase dopamine in a dose dependent manner which would be beneficial. Inexpensive.
Licorice---Glycyrrhiza Glabra/Yastimadu Powder (#3 ingredient) has been used and assessed in rat studies and in human clinical trials ( in the CT each 5cc of syrup contained 136 mg of licorice extract with 12.14 mg glycyrrhizic acid, and also 136 μg of polyphenols.). Inexpensive.
In the rat studies, Glycyrrhiza glabra confered neuroprotection by preventing the rotenone-induced apoptosis via MEK-ERK-1/2 pathway. also protected against rotenone-induced mitochondrial and oxidative stress and the neuronal cells from rotenone-induced mitotic catastrophe.
The human CT (2020) results were promising (p<0.05 and p<0.001 for UPDRS) including tremor (but some participants were also taking C/L and Amantadine, which were confounding variables and would therefore influence results possibly) .
Yes but not daily. It seems to give me more energy. I am glad to have it because my response to Madopar is not consistent. My only objection is the taste. Much to sweet!
