Many vaccines in the pipeline. Moderna is the best choice for now. Not sure who will win out.

South African mutation is very troubling.

Don't let your guard down.

Supplement with vitamin D.

Stay safe. Your choices will make a difference.

This virus is taking prisoners. 1,860,000 dead & counting.

How much vitamin D should we be taking to help protect ourselves from Covid19?

MBAnderson profile image
MBAnderson in reply toOceanflow

Mayo Clinic recommends up to 2000 IUs/day as do most medical people. There is an upper limit for vitamin D, but I suspect that somewhere above 10,000 IUs/day. During the winter here in St. Paul, MN and because of Covid, I take 4000 IUs/day.

Thanks! In Canada, perhaps I will take 6000!

MBAnderson profile image
MBAnderson in reply toOceanflow

I read a credible report that one third of all Canadians are deficient in vitamin D.

Oceanflow profile image
Oceanflow in reply toMBAnderson

My doctor said I was just under a normal vitamin D level after seeing my blood results. Suggestion was to take just 1000 more to supplement , but I don’t think I’m getting enough benefit from only one tablet. It’s really dark and rainy here....

MBAnderson profile image
MBAnderson in reply toOceanflow

I cannot know or suggest what the right dose is for you, except to say, if I was deficient and lived in Canada, I'd be taking 4000 - 8000 IUs/day.

MBAnderson profile image
MBAnderson in reply toOceanflow

Also, you will want to keep in mind, that the reference range for vitamin D applies to the general population and is not the same as the dose that would provide optimal health for you, i.e., it may not have much application to someone who is deficient and who lives where there's not a lot of sun each day and is guarding against Covid.

Despe profile image
Despe in reply toMBAnderson

Dr. Mischley recommended 10,000 IU a day.

kaypeeoh profile image
kaypeeoh in reply toMBAnderson

It's logical. Low sunlight means less VitD produced. When taking D it needs to come in with fat. Fat allows absorption. I used D in an oil capsule, 5000mg per day.

I've been on ten thousand a day since 2017. That dosage was recommended by medical doctor and a nutritionist girl

I wonder if the AstraZeneca vaccine would be better for people with a history of allergic (or pseudoallergic) reactions?

park_bear profile image
park_bear in reply toRhyothemis

It is different, at any rate. It uses a weakened adenovirus instead of PEGylated mRNA. I would say it's depends on what you are allergic to.

Rhyothemis profile image
Rhyothemis in reply topark_bear

I'm thinking if you have pseudoallergies it would be better to do the AstraZeneca, but then I'm sick of doing three hours of dishes a day (dishwasher broke and I don't want to risk having a repair person in) so I may just get whatever I can get and just make sure they have EpiPens available, especially for the 2nd shot. Though it might set off weeks of eczema; I suppose I can deal with it. Of course I'm worried about my daughter too; I think her oral allergy syndrome might be non-IgE mediated. But I know we can't risk getting covid, in any case.

park_bear profile image
park_bear in reply toRhyothemis

Oy.

On the off chance there is any possibility of fixing it yourself I will mention YouTube has a surprising variety of fixit videos.

Rhyothemis profile image
Rhyothemis in reply topark_bear

well, it actually needs replacing but I did not write that since I'm a bit embarrassed. I think we ought be able to install a new one ourselves but not all household members agree with me on that point. If I undertake the task myself and fail ...

I did manage a few weeks ago solve the issue of why our sink area was stinking so bad using YT - it was due to a faulty air admittance valve. I did not do the actual replacement of the valve myself, however. It may have been a health issue since there was some mildew/mold scent to the stink.

park_bear profile image
park_bear in reply toRhyothemis

An issue with doing the replacement yourself is the effort of moving the old unit out and moving the new unit in. An appliance dolly may be necessary. It takes some physical strength and coordination too.

IF you're using sunscreen you aren't absorbing much VitD. I lived in the Wyoming desert for 35 years. 1.5 miles above sea level, only took an your to get a sunburn. Blood tests showed lower than normal levels.

The moderna vaccine uses the same PEG as the Pfizer vaccine Marc. If you don't carry an epi-pen your should be fine. How many allergic reactions to the vaccine have there been to date? As many as a dozen yet? 3500 US citizens died from covid19 infections yesterday taking the total to 365000. You are easily going to make it to half a million even with a new president and vaccines.Vaccines like all medicine carrys some risk. The delusion is to believe not vaccinating is risk free

Its a case of the lesser of 2 evils. I believe 2 people in uk had a re-action n have recovered 1.3 milllion vaccinated. Only a concern, they say, if you carry an epi-pen. ALL medicatiin carries a risk as do peanuts!! Be safe.

I read an article recently saying the vitamin D does not help for C19 but taking it it does not hurt. I used to take a higher dose and I developed calcium deposits on my palms; I stopped for a while and I went down to 1000 UI a day and the deposits were gone. I live in North. As far as I know there two areas of the border where Canada is South of USA,

Did you take just Vitamin D, or did you take Vitamin K2 with it?

ion_ion profile image

Only D3.

BootsOn profile image
BootsOn in reply toion_ion

You should always take K2 with D3, so that calcium goes into the bones and teeth, not into soft tissue. Which would seem to be what happened in your case? I found that out from another HU forum but plenty of information on this if you Google, that will explain this better than I am managing to do on this cold morning! :)

How long have they been tested?? I will wait until everyone is safe and no side effects are produced. That will probably be another 2 years. If there are no deaths and no serious side effects, I will have the vaccine. What happened to the flu deaths? No one died from it, just from COVID? Here IS to the GREAT RESET! Long live the Gates!

MBAnderson in reply toMBAnderson

I find it ironical that an article that claims to expose the primary tactic of the superrich as being that of spreading fear, itself is spreading fear.

I wonder if there is the supplement to reduce inflammation caused by Mercola? :)

Here is the Cliff Notes version for those who don't want to read the whole thing .

"... If we don’t take a firm stand against Covid vaccinations ... there will be no end to the medical tyranny that will follow..."

(Charles ) Schwab ... has spoken... humans merge with machines and in which law enforcement will be able to read our mind."

"...the biggest corporate criminals in the history of the modern world, including Bill Gates, AstraZeneca, Bayer, Johnson & Johnson, Merck, Pfizer, Novartis and a host of others."

"In a nutshell, the Great Reset refers to a global agenda to monitor and control the world through digital surveillance."

"...Biden ... a major part of the Great Reset proposal ...The Build Back Better plan comes straight from the Great Reset’s playbook …"

"The globalist technocracy is using the COVID-19 pandemic to bypass democratic accountability, override opposition, accelerate their agenda and to impose it on the public against our will."

"The Great Reset refers to a global agenda to monitor and control the world through digital surveillance. You’ll be tied to it through an electronic ID linked to your bank account and health records, and a social credit ID that will end up dictating every facet of your life."

"The Great Reset is about getting rid of capitalism and free enterprise..."

MBAnderson profile image
MBAnderson in reply toDespe

I like you. I respect you. I just feel badly for anyone who believes any of the examples such as the president elect Joe Biden is part of a global conspiracy to control and surveil us. He's not that smart.

I raise this point with you because I care about you and living in fear that superpowers are coming for us to control our mind and freedom makes for a small, dark, closed in world.

I do not believe it is psychologically or physically healthy to believe in conspiracy theories.

MBAnderson profile image
MBAnderson in reply toMBAnderson

One explanation you might want to consider as to why there is no global conspiracy to surveil and control us is simply -- we are not that important.

Despe profile image
Despe in reply toMBAnderson

Please don't feel badly for me. It's happening under our nose, but I will not try to convince you. If Gates stops being the world's HEALTH ambassador and expertise on COVID19, I will reconsider.

Marc,

Unfortunately the Chinese government has already put into practice these last two points and it has these characteristics: where it arrives it creates the desert.

See Hong Kong

bitterwinter.org/hong-kong-...

And

."...is about getting rid of capitalism and free enterprise..."

and I add:

"...to replace it with state capitalism where the government owns everything."

Bah! an old Epicurus idea copied by the good Karl M. who later regretted it and never worked.

A laugh would bury them, but someone takes them seriously, that's the problem !

My (Nurse) wife has told me of the Canadian regulations for giving Vaccinations... and ALL the information that is kept on each vial of vaccine in case there is a reaction to the shot! It is little wonder why the roll-out is going so slowly. There is also a shortage of trained personnel across most provinces let alone of not having the specialized FREEZERS for storing in isolated locations, something we have in spades up here in the frozen North...

My neighbor works for Pfizer and he commutes to NYC. I'm in Connecticut at the bottom of the list for getting the vaccine. My friends in Green River, Wyoming have already gotten the vaccine! You are welcome. I am against any kind of vaccination. My mom died as a result of the flu vaccination. Her doctor insisted that she should have one since she was 87. I am still wondering why she would allow her doctor to give her the flu shot!
