Hello all!
Checking in with all of you about the vaccine. Has anyone had it yet? If so any side effects related to PD? I am curious if it makes tremors worse or any other symptoms worse. Thanks in advance.

Getting mine on 2/3. Not concerned. Either is my MDs. And Dr Okun. parkinson.org/blog/covid-va.... I think if one has underlying health issues other than PD, they should be concerned.
Thank you. I have hashimotos but that’s it.
I have a Parkinsonism diagnosis..Tremors and right side weakness are my major issues. I have never had a flu shot ,never had the flu. My husband had the virus and was quarantined for 33days.i was his caretaker and did not get the virus. I'm concerned that the vaccine may worsen the issues I have. Please advise. Thanks
Your immune system was likely good enough to throw off the virus without any symptoms. I am pretty sure I have had the virus with chillblains on feet being my only symptom, though I did then start to get leg stiffness. Also my daughter lost her sense of smell at the same time. Therefore I am not having the vaccine, but will keep supplementing with Vitamin D for general health as well as being a good anti-virus strategy.
It’s funny that you say that because in December 2019 I truly believe I had Covid with a lot of the same symptoms. Although I did not have sweating and a fever, I did start out with a sinus infection that lead to massive issues of not being able to breathe (and I mean so incredibly hard to breathe that I had to hold myself up to the wall and pound my own chest to break up any and all chunky white matter) and massive fatigue. It lasted for three weeks and although I may not of had it full on I matched a lot of the symptoms that folks have. I am a psychotherapist and I do see people in their homes but I do not expose myself as much as I once did given the numbers we are experiencing. Since that time I have never had any issues and I have been somewhat exposed to others who have had it or who are asymptomatic and I’m curious if I have an amount of antibodies that I’ve helped me stay healthy thus far.
I’m just worried that if I do get the vaccine my symptoms of PD will be worse.
I know a lot of people who had covid symptoms in late 2019 and early 2020. I note that the Israelis are not giving the vaccine to those that have already had it
Wow thanks for the feedback. I had a dear friend who was in Italy in May 2019 and they were in the hospital for 30 days and almost died and he truly believes it was Covid then but they didn’t have a name for it when he was there.
I work at a hospital and had my second dose of the Pfizer vaccine Jan. 11. A few days of slight fever, chills, body aches and fatigue and headache. The chills made my tremor worse and not exercising did as well. Took extra vitamin C and hydrated as much as possible to get back to a “normal” self again
Had my first shot of Pfizer five days ago. Very slight tenderness at injection point, but otherwise no symptoms at all. Went back to working out the next day. I've heard that second shot is tougher and I'll let you know after I've had that on Feb 8.
I got my first Moderna shot yesterday and no side effects. Will get second shot Feb 19 and will report any changes.
I wish I was eligible but even in a higher risk group with PD and asthma I’ve been told in NY state right now I can’t get it unless I’m at least 65. Someone told me yesterday there’s a shortage of glass so they are unable to make the necessary vials. I was told it probably wont be until July that I would be eligible. I wish your primary Dr made the decision if you needed it. I have relatives who are 65 but probably not as high risk as myself. I wonder if different states have different requirements and I could go somewhere else to get it.
Had 1st shot of Moderna. Temp and chills for a couple of days. Tenderness at the injection site but no other issues. Due for the 2nd on the 30th. I'm a nurse working in a hospital. PD for 7 years
You must understand that all medical interventions have risk. I personally see no need for a vaccine when this virus has only caused death in the elderly and those with compromised immune systems. My husband who has Parkinson's and I will not be getting it. We don't even get a flu shot.
But if there are any negatives or deaths after receiving the COVID vaccine you will not hear it over our censored media. I have heard of many having negative reactions to the vaccine. Though they call it a vaccine in order for it to be more accepted it is actually a chemical medical device.
The 86-year-old sports icon received the first of two doses of Moderna’s vaccine on Jan. 5, in an attempt to inspire other Black Americans to step up to the plate and get the vaccine. He just past away 18 days after getting the shot. Of course, they are not saying if his death is related...yet they don't explain why he passed away....he wanted to show how safe it was to the black community. (???)
I work in an acute care hospital and gave seen a number of young individuals with no co-morbidities die of covid. Also have seen many elderly with multiple health issues do well.
I got my first a week ago (Pf) . Sore arm and slight tiredness the next day. Round 2 due on 2/6.
Received the Moderna vaccine two weeks ago. I experienced soreness at the injection site. No other symptoms. Two weeks until the second injection.
