Hi, this is a question to all PWP and caregivers.I am wondering if this is the case in your town, district or state. In this period of COVID 19 pandemic. It seems like some regions affected severely with the pandemic are short of infectious disease/primary doctors,so doctors from other fields are being requested to help out. I am saying this because,I am from the eastern coast of the US,and my upcoming appointment, next week has just been cancelled, and the reason, covid 19 pandemic. The caller from the hospital, did not give any details other than cancellation due to covid 19. It could as well be that the hospitals currently does not want to encourage social gathering in the waiting room.Your contribution will be appreciated.

It's best to stay away from any Dr's office or hospitals during this pandemic for non-essential medical visits. Unless it's an emergency, I would hunker down to avoid any possibility of infection.

Well for us, and we are nowhere to the epicenter in BC, 350 miles of driving, we are HUNKERED DOWN and not visiting. The DENTISTS in town are shuttered up, closed. SOME MDs are working but they are where the sickest people and I would NOT go unless I was REALLY sick.I don't know if the space right under you opening post on this topic shows it but I see a link to our national gov. directions of what to do re COVID-19....canada.ca/en/public-health/...

Lots of good info if your Gov. has not posted similar.

Stay home, yes you can go outside, and keep 10 feet away from anyone if you have to go to the store etc., wash your HANDS OFTEN, like every time you touch something and use the phone if you are lonely.

stay healthy

BC update on COVID-19:

well our Provincial Medical Officer, in Victoria BC, has just announced that she will cautiously begin relaxing the no travel restrictions and allow specified businesses to start opening their doors on ~ May 24 th if I got the date correctly.

BUT If there is an uptick after OUR long May weekend, May 16 -19, there will be a return to limited Travel etc.... We can only wait and see.

The mid central area we are in has NOT had one case of infection and we all want to keep it that way...

The worst numbers of deaths in BC is from the Greater Vancouver area and the Southerly Interior and mostly were elderly in Rest Homes with underlying co-morbidity ie Heart, lung or similar issues

Many doctors are closing their offices to anything other than emergent cases simply to avoid contact or possible spread of the virus.

My husband’s appointment with PD nurse next Friday has been turned into a phone appointment so we don’t have to go to the hospital 😀

Where we live doctor's offices are closed, including dentists and only non-elective dental work. Only emergencies and then only by phone first. Was just in hospital for an unrelated infection for IV antibiotic and when came out my attending who'd ordered me admitted said I'd have to tell his office that he'd directed me to get a followup appointment with his office, otherwise they would reject our call.

Here in SF Bay Area all non essential MD and dental appointments are canceled/postponed, as well as non-essential travel and other activities. We’re sheltering in place until at least April 7.
