Adequate zinc is critical for blood sugar regulation. People with diabetes are at a disadvantage with zinc dyshomeostasis. Guess what HCQ does -increases zinc level. See more info below.
Though these parts of the article are very interesting -

I did notice that my cough was worse after higher sugar meals (due to extra bluberries, oranges, bananas, etc), so probably best to avoid high sugar/carbs.
