The Parkinson’s disease death rate: carbidopa and vitamin B6

"During the first 15 years of prescribing L-dopa, a decreasing Parkinson’s disease death rate was observed. Then, in 1976, 1 year after US Food and Drug Administration approved the original L-dopa/carbidopa combination drug, the Parkinson’s disease death rate started increasing. This trend has continued to the present, for 38 years and counting. "

These are great references- thanks- saving to my arsenal. The nutrition article is consistent w/my working knowledge which is comforting & adds layers of validation. Must save for later. How do you organize your PD Arsenal? I was saving as .pdf to a “PD folder” w some various subtitles on Dropbox, ran out of space and started saving to iBook when it pops up and / or iCloud as a document. I’m starting to save everything “compulsively” but need to take a time out to sort /build a system. You seem Uber organized w/links and clear communications- I assume you’ve figured out an excellent filing system already? The new iMac has me curious about iCloud and Desktop- I truly need an admin day to create my best system. Using/reading on iPhone is lazy & leaves you subject to rotating / or random “save” options (it seems).

I have a fairly articulate filing system. Nothing special, though. I file stuff by subject. The trick is how you label the file.

I've been using Windows 7, but it is no longer going to be supported after January 14, so I have to decide between Windows 10 and a chrome book. I just got a chrome book Saturday, although I'm not certain I'm going to keep it. The extra security and working out of the cloud intrigues me. I am a little concerned about how frustrating it might be to learn the OS system.

It’s frustrating when stuff is piling up while you’re trying to simultaneously figure it out- for sure!

"L-dopa active ingredient products may be administered as a nutritional supplement or a drug. Nutritional supplements are generally recognized as safe (GRAS), allowing over-the-counter sales.12 Due to side effects, carbidopa is not GRAS.3 It may induce life-threatening events including myocardial infarction, neuroleptic malignant syndrome, agranulocytosis, hemolytic and nonhemolytic anemia, gastrointestinal bleeding, thrombocytopenia, and hypokalemia While carbidopa side effects require its discontinuation when the continuation of L-dopa is indicated, nutrient products are the only option. Most physicians are unaware of the availability of this L-dopa form."

Fortunately, my doctor put me on Mucuna and watches my glutathione levels closely.
