In this Neuro Support Group on 1/19/22, Dr. Ryan Kochanski discussed the use of Asleep MRI-Guided Deep Brain Stimulation to help manage certain symptoms of Parkinson's Disease. Ryan Kochanski, MD is a neurosurgeon with Methodist Physicians | Neurology Specialists in San Antonio, Texas.

Dr. Kochanski provides surgery for a broad range of brain and spine conditions including brain tumors, movement disorders, epilepsy, trigeminal neuralgia and spinal disorders. He specializes in deep brain stimulation for Parkinson's disease, dystonia and essential tremor. He also provides comprehensive surgical options for epilepsy including resective surgery, laser thermal interstitial therapy (LITT), DBS, vagal nerve stimulation (VNS) and responsive neurostimulation (RNS).

Dr. Kochanski sees patients in the medical center, and performs surgery at Methodist Hospital.

Awake vs asleep DBS. Brrr. It concerns me that in none of these videos do they give a detailed description of what the electrical impulses actually do to improve symptoms and my understanding is electrical impulses disrupt the signaling between neurons. He did acknowledge at the end of the video that DBS does not stop the progression.

I had dbs at Stanford by Dr on both sides Stn But now the dr wants to re do it I am flying to Sydney australia to see dr broody

Are you happy with the results and why does the doctor want to re-do it? What does "re-do" actually mean?
