MAOs, or monoamine oxidases, are enzymes that break down neurotransmitters and stop their messaging activity. MAO-A breaks down serotonin, epinephrine and norepinephrine; MAO-B deactivates dopamine.

Of the herbs mentioned in the article, the easiest to obtain with the least side effects would probably be passion flower. P-F extract contains GABA and has been used for anxiety and as a sleep aid. Whether it helps with L-Dopa absorption I have no idea, but it seems like a fairly benign substance so I may try it sometime - JG
Kava is not good for PD. My hubby tried it and had a bad reaction.
Black currant juice is one too. This is the brand we use, unsweetened.
