I have had PD for ov0er 17 years. Recently my body has started doing weird things. My tremors are gone completely for 4 hrs when my meds are working (I take Rytary 145mg 4 caps every 4-5 hrs) and then my tremors come back drastically esp on my dominate side, then after about a 1/2 hr they will stop suddenly and I feel frozen. My muscles become stiff and my feet feel stuck to the floor, Is this a severe off period? anxiety? or a dystonic reaction? I usually have to have an APOKYN injection to be able to move well again' It feels like a panic attack but I am not sure. I can someone explain what is involved in freezing in Parkinson's? what are the actual physical symptoms? I thought I knew but I am now confused. Thank you....

Tremor dominate and freezing... Does anyone have issues with tremors that turn into an off frozen state?
I do not take drugs but my freezing can occur at any time. My feet are stuck to the floor and no amount of talking to my brain will make them move. My physio suggested swaying from side to side and flexing my legs and then to imagine a log in front to step over. This may work sometimes but usually I am stuck for up to 10 mins. Since taking high dose vit B1 I do not suffer.
How much B1 you take and which brand? Thanks.
I have been taking 3g per day of Solgar vitamin B1 for 6 weeks. Before I was freezing 4 times a week and had trembling in my arm and a jerking left foot. Now I still have some trembling but everything is much better. By the way my neurologist says I have not got PD but a neurological movement disorder-does anyone know how this differs from PD?
"a neurological movement disorder"?
I would ring him/her up and ask: "Which one?"
When I google NMD I see that the Mayo clinic lists a number of conditions such as ataxia and Parkinson's and Parkinsonism so maybe I am in a pre PD state
Thanks humph3. I'm also taking Solgar B1, but smaller dose from 300mg to 700mg but have not dared to go higher.
So the freeze and jerks in left foot gone?
what % tremor is reduced?
Thanks.
I don't know about movement disorder, sorry. How long have you this condition for? Could it be from toxin or injury?
I would estimate about 80% reduction. I was diagnosed 20 years ago with ideopathic peripheral neuropathy after a while my walking suffered and I fell down often - it seemed to affect my legs also energy levels were low. About a year ag I started hav the jerks and tremors so went back to the same neurologist - he said I had a neurological movement disorder. As for the B1 l have had no side effects but I think I will try to reduce the dose as it costs a fortune. When I started the B1 I took it for 3 weeks with good results so I then stopped to test if it worked . I soon went back on again as the symptoms returned.
I'm no expert, but this seems more like symptoms of overmedication than PD. In her somewhat controversial book, "Once Upon a Pill", Janice Hadlock has an explanation beginning on page 40. The book is online and free here: pdrecovery.org/wp-content/u... (page 40).
