My meds have not been working correctly the last few days. Now I have dry eyes again and can't see clearly. Does anyone else have dry eyes? I use drops and a gel my eye dr. Also I have sensitivity to light again. Any suggestion I would appreciate it

Joy, I have the same as you describe. I got new glasses and they didn't help much. Now
i got a new RX and Lens Crafters just called to say they are finished. About 30 miles one
way to go pick them up. Be sure to wear sun glasses. No fun with cloudy vision. ~~Dennis
Dry eyes, blurred vision, trouble reading, and double vision common with PD.
Blink reflex may decrease. Ocular surface becomes dry. Decrease in tear film production. Can lead to blurred vision.
Autonomic nervous system involvement can cause irritation and inflammation of upper or lower eyelid or cornea or ocular surface - all can exacerbate dry eye symptoms which can lead to blurred vision.
Some patients require different types of Rx glasses (multiple glasses / bifocals / trifocals) depending upon where they are in their medication cycle to assist with better vision.
Light / glare sensitivity ... protect your eyes as best as possible. Sunglasses / tinted lenses can be worn even indoors if sensitivity is severe. Hats with broad brims when outdoors. Protect eyes from wind - even a slight breeze can be drying. Wear wrap around frames to better protect eyes from eye drying irritants - wind dust dander smoke ...
Stay hydrated. Drink more water.
Neuro-opthamologist highly recommend if vision symptoms continue.
Thank you for such detailed information. My husband has just started a new UI drug that may cause dry eyes and blurred vision, in addition to the other 6 drugs that have side effects.
Thank you! This was helpful! Have been experiencing blurry vision and didn't know it could be parkinson's related. I thought it was cataracts, but it comes and goes.....
same here having surgery to correct having living style lenses which cost more but no glasses Surgery set up for Sept but doctors said it should correct my blurry vision and double vision cost $ 2200 per eye
As an afterthought, at the same time as the cataracts, I had Blephoritis in my left eye, which was treated before they booked me for the cataract surgery. It would do more good than harm for your GP to refer you to your local eye hospital.
Have contacts...great because all i really need are reading glasses, my eye doctor put togehter a prescription for contacts...why?... because i can never find my reading glasses...and i have many pairs of them...gotta laugh
I use a visor for the light and I use eye drops for the dryness and my eyes are always worse and blurry when my meds are not on. I had a pair of glasses made with just the bifocal so the whole lense is close up , I can see the computer great, just not the TV>
I couldn't wear contacts because of dry eye and now with PD I just got a new prescription for glasses a year ago and can't see what I need. Darned blended lenses. I'm going to ask for Just distance or just reading and see what happens. BUt darned frames are expensive.
Thanks guys for all the help. When this eye thing started I went to the opthnokogist that I have always seen each year for eye check up. He had just saw me about 6 months prior. He told me no I didn't need glasses, and no I dont have anything in my eye, You have PD and that makes you have dry mouth and eyes. I told him I knew about the mouth but didn't think about mt eyes. Because it hurts it feels like you have something in you eye or that if you keep blinking or rubbing your eyes it would go away. That when I started the artificial tears and this gel stuff, My eyes feel a little better today. I guess I just need to use then more frequently
Hi Joy, I too have had dry eyes for a number of years beczause of Pd - it is my refuced blinking that causes it. I use Eye gel - whicch I am supposed to put in several times a day but I am so busy - but they do work - the only downside is trhe blurred vision wehen you first put the gel in but that ius manbageable. I have been tthinking of trying some different drops but again it is time - and I don't waste iut if I can help it
I recently had cataracts removed and lens inserted and I can see well - apart from reading for which I now need glasses
Same with me regarding doing it several times a day. My eye Dr said tiy take your PD meds several times a day why can't you get drops in your eyes at the same time? He made a good point but it takes longer and I have to steady my tremor. Actually my eyes were great as long as I did what I was suppose to
I have the same problem with dry eyes and blurry vision. I am learning to live with both. I keep my eyes moist with drops the dr gave me and try not to tire out my eyes with the computer or reading. My husband has to remind me alot to watch myself. ( Lol) Alittle self humor you see.
Yes! My eyes have been giving me some problems. They are very dry and tired. THe dryness causes pain. I use eye drops and try not to use my eyes too much. This time of sharing our work is very special to me..
How about issues with eye lids.. Pretty scary driving and lids shut and won't open...... Never fear, i dont drive anymore...... Diagnosed as a form of Dystonia..... side affect of PD... Botox has been the miracle drug for me.. every 3 months. Now if I could get rid of the double vision and the cloudy eyes....easier to deal with tho than eyelids that just won't open..
i had cataracts removed and lens inserted and I can see VERY well , and now I can read also. I wore glasses since I was in 3rd grade what a pleasure. BUT,I have dry eye and the glare is horrible never thought it was the PD, just thought it was from the cataract surgery.
Ending summary reads : "Some of the vision problems occurring in people with Parkinson's disease may seem daunting to some, but don't let them overwhelm you. Never give up!"
I see double, due to Parkinson's effects on my eye muscles. I've been diagnosed with Convergence/Divergence Disorder and am prescribed prism lenses, which help me read and my eyes to feel more comfortable overall. Also diagnosed with Blepheroritis.
for a while now ,my eyes have been becoming blurred , in the distance , but also if I'm watching tv, also Iv been getting double vision, Iv not been able to do much craft work , which I enjoy,
The thing is , the other day I was outing my lap top on the floor, it was very odd, as I lowered it down it stopped , but the floor looked another six inches away from the lap top , I couldn't understand it at first, then realised it was my eyes, the key board the letters cross over, and again th eipad seems another 4 inches away from the keys,
My muscles in my eyes feels as if there pulling , is this a parkinsons thing, the nurolagist said it has nothing to do with the pd , that it was another neurological thing, I'm having tests done tomorrow , there testing the muscles and the nerves, I'm having a NCS / EMG done.
