Zandopa and Mucuna Pruriens

Hi all! I have a couple of questions for you all. My husband is 54 and was diagnosed with PD in 2015. He has tried a number of meds, but eventually found that Zandopa along with C/L worked best. However, Zandopa underwent a change several months ago and it stopped working for him like it used to. He switched to MP (powder) from NutriVita (because it was suggested here). After taking 2 doses, his tongue swelled and we made a trip to the ER. After many tests (including an MRI) they said that all they could figure out was that he had some sort of reaction. He hadn't changed anything in his diet or meds, except for MP. So, here's my questions:

1. Has anyone else noticed that the "new" Zandopa is not as effective?

2. Has anyone else ever experienced a swollen tongue from l-dopa?

What and when are the c/l doses and the Zandopa or MP doses? Are you supplementing the c/l with MP or taking it at the same time?

He takes a level scoop (the scoop that is included with the Zandopa) plus 1/2 of a C/L 25/100 every 2 hours. He takes the C/L with the Zandopa to prevent being nauseated.

Do you know how much l-dopa is in the serving of Z that he takes? Has his doctor recommended increasing the c/l? What is the rationale for taking both at the same time and not one or the other?

It sounds quite likely that he has had an allergic reaction. You should reconsider what he is taking in conjunction to his PD doctor.
