Nightmares, Night terrors torture me.πŸ€€πŸ˜“

I am on PD meds for about 6 years now. I have academy award winning nightmares from hell, starring, yours trtuely, along with night terrors galore. My wife has to shake me awake to stop my yelling, talking, cursing out loud..etc. I have tried many things to remedy this pproblem. I just dread sleeping some of the time, as bad as I need good night's sleep. Can anyone relate.

Yes IHP, to the extent I was fearing to go sleeping. It stopped dead - if I dare say - when I was prescribed a dopamine agonist (Sifrol).

The curious thing is, it did not came back when I stopped Sifrol, due to adverse effects.

I later was prescribed Amitryptiline at low doses (65 mg). Could play a role in that relief.

Hope this helps.

Could it be RSD? Related to Parkinson's, but its own thing?

I'd look into the medication you are taking. I am sure you must be aware that other than MAOb inhibitors, none of the Pd medications does anything to slow down the progression of Pd. Therefore, whether you take any of them or not, your Pd is still progressing to the stage where you will become unable to move.

Before that happens, I would seriously suggest that you look into ways of slowing down the symptoms, or even reversing them, as I have.

Look at my PROFILE or contact me on my website, reverseparkinsons.net. At no cost to yourself, or anybody else, I will try to help you come to grips with your Pd.

I have the craziest dreams on occasion. They seem intense when I am in them, and scary to think about what I was dreaming about after I wake up, if that makes sense. I'm just on azilect.

Although I would prefer to not take any of the benzodiazepines I do take a very small dose of clonazepam before sleep due to REM behavior disorder, .25 mg, and this does indeed help.

Have you tried researching REM Sleep Disorder which is a symptom of Parkinson's. My husband has had REM Sleep Disorder for over 12 years. He is 65 and hasn't been diagnosed with Parkinson's yet but we are aware that he has an 80% chance of developing the disease. REM Sleep Disorder causes, screaming, yelling, kicking, punching during your deepest sleep. He has had stitches twice. We no longer sleep together for fear of harming me. He sleeps with bed rails so he doesn't fall out of bed anymore.

His sleep doctor had him on Clonazepam which caused side effects after some years. He had to stop taking. I researched since nights were horrible without the Clonazepam and found that Charlotte's Web Advanced Hemp Oil (which is expensive) was made for a young girl who suffered from seizures. The hemp oil changed her life and those of many of children suffering from seizures. I ordered the strongest version which insurance doesn't cover and it has changed his life. He takes the Hemp Oil three times before bedtime starting at 6:30, 9:30 and once more before sleeping. Albeit not perfect he can go days without a bad night and when he does I can now hear him talking, call his name and wake him up enough to stop the dream for going further. I have no interest in the Charlotte's Web Hemp Oil only too share with other people who suffer from REM Sleep Disorder there are alternatives than drugs that have side effects. If you have any questions write me back.

I think mannitol helps.

Try 5-htp. I used to have awful nightmares. 5-htp helped.

Mine just quit without taking or doing anything.

I have found that 0.5 mg of clonazepam helps quite a bit.
