There's a new trial for Deferiprone for EU and UK patients. Unfortunately my dad isn't a candidate but it might be beneficial for those who have had a more recent diagnosis:

There's not a lot of information on the iron/Parkinson's connection, although I have read Morley Robbins' take on neurodegenerative diseases and oxidative damage via iron. It's a good read for those interested:
