Hi - Have you tried physical therapy?

My husband has terrible pain from hips to feet. He has peripheral neuropathy as well. Tried Botox, drugs and still has pain.

Hi parky22' I have more problems with my Periphial Neuropathy than from

my PD, I wish I could tell you that I have found a way to get some feeling back into my legs, still searching that magic cure. Meds do not help me.

I just started to get that. I'm in a program with Parkies and people with MS. When I mentioned I was starting to have weird feet, the said the best thing is the stretch the toes by lefting yourself up on them frequently. In a pool is best, but even on land, in two weeks, it has gone for now.

Perhaps you are suffering from Dyskinesia, which is a side effect of levodopa medication. If so, try reducing it, very slowly until the unwanted movement stops.

You can also try doing exercise to help you strengthen your muscles, which might also be the cause of your wobbles.

If you want to do the best exercise, look at my profile and make contact with me, it will cost you nothing.

John I appreciate your continued messages. Have you kept up your daily steps with Fitbit. I just received my 2017 report: 2,509,304 steps. Get one and we can "friend" each other via internet and have a worldwide challenge. Just a thought

What is Fitbit?

Wristwatch that records number of steps per day. Keeps record by hour, day, week, month, etc. google fitbit let me know your thoughts. I have no financial interest. Watch costs about $US 100.

I am hardly in the position to challenge anybody. Besides which, Fast walking produces a chemical in the brain that repairs the damaged brain cells. My guess as to what causes the brain to produce that chemical is the speed at which we walk and maintaining that speed for a prolonged period.

How would Fitbit help us to produce more of that chemical?

Would document how many steps you took over a period of time

How would that help to deal with Pd?

I shoot for 5 miles per day (which correlates with about 10,000 steps), of which 3-4 miles are fast-walking. The number provides a metric that is an incentive.... I would write more but..... I have to go fast-walking..... only 4000 steps so far today. I "compete" with a small circle of friends. This could be expanded (easily) for PWP who can walk but lack motivation.

The only motivation we require is knowing that when we walk fast we are Repairing the damaged brain cells.

Dear Wobbly,

It's not the meds, although I AM TAKING MORE THAN YOU. I too, along with most of us wake in the morning with painful, wobbly legs.

Only 2 things help PD, Exercise and THC/CBD.

My dog wakwes me at 6:AM with a good face wash. I let him go in back yard, and take my first pills and smoke some weed. I go back to sleep for about 2-3 hours, and my legs are better. Then I take second pills, eat and smoke. I'm pretty good from 11-5 and then it's down hill.

Anyone remember the "Myth of Sisyphus" My life. Welcome to it.

Seriously, you should try an exercise program for PD's Push yourself. It WILL help.

Wobbly22, I have found that rubbing my feet with Capsazin HP helps quite a bit. it's available OTC most anyway. Make sure you wear gloves, you don''t want to get this stuff in your eyes. I also use Tommy Copper crew socks. It is a compression sock that looks good and feels great. You'll never get rid of the neuropathy but these things help me suffer less!

Not what you're looking for?
