Pill rolling?

Does anyone else do the pill rolling action with their thumb and four- finger? I do unconsciously but I can stop as soon as I notice it. It is not really an involuntary action like a tremor, just something I find myself doing like a habit. It strikes me as strange but I have read that PD people sometimes do that.

I was at my ophthalmologist's office, who knows I have PD, and he referred to my arm tremor as that. When I have tremor it is not involuntary for me - if I put my attention on it I can stop it.

The pill rolling is one of the many diagnostic tools for PD.

I have a lot of that. Tremor of the arm and PR of the fingers often happen together. It's not voluntary and I can't stop it by an act of will. It comes and goes seemingly randomly. Theresa, I surmise you are just at an early stage, and your "unconscious" PR may eventually become involuntary. (CAVEAT: this is pure speculation, and may be as real as flying pink elephants.)

I used to do that when I was in my early twenties. I could stop but I did it excessively. In my thirties I was diagnosed with hashimotos thyroiditis which is a hypo thyroidism. I'm thinking that in the beginning I was hyperthyroid and the pill rolling was one of the symptoms, I also had a high reading heart rate and anxiety. So it wasn't Parkinson's Disease for me.I don't recall when the pill rolling stopped but it did without effort.

I do not have pill rolling motion. But sometimes my index finger just moving back and forth (or up down). I can stop it only if intentionally I do the same motion for few seconds. If my attention is away my tremor goes away. If my focus comes back my tremor comes back delayed with 10-20 secs and I can not stop it. I noticed the alcohol calms down the tremor.
