This needs to be prescribed by an MD. Best way to find out who is prescribing it is to go ask a compounding pharmacy where you live and ask them who is prescribing it then get an appointment with that doctor. Some physicians may be open to prescribing even if they don't know anything about it if you take the time to print out information for them and talk to them about giving it a try. We have ours compounded, but other people dissolve a 50 mg tablet in water and figure out their dose that way. See the Ldn yahoo site.

Read Honest Medicine & contact the author at her email address for a list of docs or call Skip Lentz Pharmacy for a name. Skip is also a major compounding pharmacy 561-852-6400 or 561-218-0111. Great stuff!

I live in St.Lucia,West Indies.

I called Skip'sPharmacy and they gave me a link to ask for a list of Doctors. My neuro. won't give me a prescr. but they are doing trials at USF but they are not completed yet. I would like to try LND it sounds promising. Anyone know the dosage to start of with?

My husband, Neuro agreed to prescribe it after we asked and brought her a who lot of information about it. She felt it could do no harm. I take it for something else. He started sloe, o.5 mgs before bed for a week or two, then increased every week or two until we got to maximum dose of 4.5. Wanted to avoid any side effects starting out too high. It's been almost a year now and he is so much better - diagnosed about 15 months ago. Neuro said at last visit that she would not give him a diagnosis of pd today.

How can this be??? Pd doesn't get better like this. He's had no pd Meds for

4 months. We don't know if the Ldn is what is making him better or if this could have been a misdiagnosis. However the carbi-levodopa helped with his symptoms in the beginning, but he had a lot of side effects. We approached the doctor with "please don't take away this hope". It worked as she understood this plea. Might be worth a try. What university is USF?

I listened to a story recently about LDN in the treatment of addiction. It eliminates the craving for alcohol entirely. So I am wondering if it eliminates the craving for sugar which I find is a problem with many with PD. University of California at San Francisco I would assume is the the reference above. We have been trying to convince my husband's neuro for over a year. We heard about it from a Swedish doctor who had PD and started taking it. All of her symptoms reversed.

To continue --- I went to a Doctor in Lakeland, Fla and got a prescr.for LDN it was 4.5 mg I wondered if that was too high to start with.

My wife takes 1.5 tablets daily of 3 mg LDN. Here in Norway it is known as Naltrekson. The LD stands for Low Dosage.

Hi Wghade,
