Has anyone been to a rehab clinic to receive physical therapy, speech therapy or occupational therapy?

My husband had evaluation done in one today, I was very discouraged, wondering if I should make arrangements with a different facility, has anyone else gotten help through one.

Rehab has made a big difference for me. I have learned to walk better and improve coordination. I expect to be a continuing visitor to rehab therapy as time goes by. It's not instant or automatic, but results are possible over time.

I am an avid apostle of the physical therapy program, particularly the "extreme exercise" phase which has a target of 80% of max heart beat. At 78 yrs., it took time to get near the target(15 mos) but my strength and endurance has been the reward.

Will stay in the program till they throw me out.

I'm going to start next week tell me what happened. And I will let you know what they do for me. Marty

I don't know what you mean by eval. Physical therapy is the best and I wish more sessions were covered.

Rehab with Physical Therapy helped me regain my walking, strength, standing, & bending .. Exercises in the water, leg lifts, stretches (I felt brand new!) .. Problems with grasping & holding objects were overcome with occupational therapy .. Soft voice & "blank" face were improved with speech therapy .. I, too, plan on keeping up with rehab as needed..

My son is a massage therapist and my husband the PWP finds it very helpful at least with relieving the stiffness of PD.

Dear Praying for a cure:

A cure I am not aware of but the therapy YES. The program my Neurologist recommended and I did attend was LSVT Global. It was at a Neurologist PT Dept. and my insurance, which I have here in USA is Medicare and co pay . It paid it all for 16 weeks. three times a week for an hour a day, or very close to it. Also home exercises were given in picture and instruction form to use at home. I also took the voice therapy and am now able to be back in church choir. You have nothing to loose but to inquire of it. Go on internet to

LSVT Global

There is LSVT video

and LSVT Therapy Exercises and information . Just choose what you want to see first and follow the prompts.

very easy, If I could do it , trust me anyone can.

Any Neurologist should be able to give information on this . I am not sure about a GP.

I intend to go back in January as I have developed a problem with stairs and stumbling which I have never had before. I do hope and PRAY this information will help you.

I ran it through the internet just a few minutes ago to be sure I was correct and it is up and running as of 12.5.13 7:34pm. Good Luck

Praying for a cure: If Medicare did not pay a claim it has to be in error in billing or coding I feel, as mine was paid for and co pay paid the 20%. I have standard Medicare and not a HMO or and health network. I was rated at 2.5 by the Neurologist PT Therapist for LSVT, again I was . 2.5 of a possible evaluation of 5. After my therapy and medication ( Requip) I was rated at the end as 2.0 . For me it has been a blessing, I will check the 12th, my next appointment and see if any changes have been made and will make a thread if told they have been changed.Polyanna007

Also will let you know if my rating has changed due to my new problem.
