"... after just three months of being at the gym, Scott described himself as “95 per cent symptom free."

Total BS

So be it

"With worsening symptoms and poor response to the levodopa..."

As is often the cases with these "cures", most likely a misdiagnosis.

Like I said, "... symptom free in 3 months..." - total BS.

I’m working at it. Qi Gong 40 minute routines morning & evening. HIIT 1 hour 2x per week with trainer and daily home workouts. Tai Chi group classes 2 evenings per week. I believe it all helps.

it’s well-known that exercise can greatly reduce symptoms. But I don’t know about 95%. For me, intense exercise has alleviated, insomnia, constipation, my anxiety issues, helps me feel more cognitively sharp. and it definitely has an effect on my tremors probably mainly due to me sleeping better. So I wouldn’t call this total BS.

What a novel approach, exercise. Now why didn't I think of that!

Just watched the video. Delighted that he hasn’t got PD & that he got to be in the newspapers.

Various scenarios here. All interesting.

1. He was misdiagnosed.

2. He has Parkinson's disease within the wide catch-all (or dustbin) definition encompassing many causes and pathways. And his particular flavour of PD responded well to his lifestyle changes.

3. Exercise has the potential to not just modify the disease but potentially reverse some symptoms in some individuals.

My take home from this is to; remain hopeful, keep exercising in ways that I can manage and (more importantly) enjoy, and continue fretting about the currently inadequate diagnostics involved in pronouncing a life changing sentence to individuals.

Honestly I wish this was true !! Every time I exercise and that is just walking I have severe cramping in my calfs, shins and feet. The last occasion, I rang my son to come and collect me and he found me at the side of a road screaming in agony. The spasms were so bad I had to kick my shoes off , I couldn't move . Toes had curled inward, the pain in my legs were horrendous . People passed in cars and thought I was some druggy, so embarrassing. I wish I could exercise properly but its a definite no way for me unfortunately.

Are you drinking 8 glasses of water a day ? Another idea my husband uses (he is the one with PD) is a vibrating machine, it shakes and vibrates which provides a little cardio but also improves blood flow. I don’t have PD but use it for immense cramping in legs sometimes in the middle of the night. Works for my cramps and might help you getsome cardio. Just stand and hold handle supports.

Have you ever done hair testing? Dr. Mischley uses it to identify deficiencies that you may not see in the blood. For example, my potassium levels look fine in my blood but I am on empty in my hair sample. It's like a reservoir that is very low but if you looked only in the pipes from the reservoir for distribution they would be full. So, your potassium and other minerals could be severely depleted.

Not what you're looking for?
