Lump on side under ribcage any idea?

I woke up with pain in my side yesterday so I felt to see if I could and there is a huge lump right below my ribs on my side towards my back. Its painful any ideas what this could be.

Hi There! I have the same thing in my back by rib cage. Doctors have told me its inflamed disk and muscles. Massage helps as well muscle relaxers. My guess is your right handed. When I over do I suffer with the back pain.

I am right handed but now I notice it's both sides toward back big hard painful knots it I touch it's really pain full so massage is out.

Rheumatoid nodules. And they suck balls! If you're not already in one, I'd guess you're about to have a flare. Try an ice pack. Hope it's gone soon!

I thought that's what they might be as I have nodules everywhere already but these are painful the others aren't. I hate waiting to see a reumy. I have appt Aug 2nd so getting closer.

I get them on my feet. They're very painful. Makes it where I can't walk without help sometimes.

Hi thats so interesting as I have a lump in my arm that is really painful too and its been getting bigger over the last few months about the size of a 10 cent piece now..

I didnt realise this was arthritis related. can they be removed and do they ever go away?

I was wpnder that myself i think they shrink after time and sometimes they will remove them but don't quote me. I just know they suck
