I am helping a friend who is currently in hospital. Is anyone able to tell me which is the best London Hospital or even UK hospital, which has the best experts for managing "complex patients"?
(Crohn's for 30+ years, stoma, strictures, general poor health, currently hospitalised, history of multiple surgeries, emaciated, unable to tolerate solid food).
Thank you so much,
De

The hospital you need is St Mark’s which is now part of Northwick Park Trust. I had similar symptoms and the hospital I was originally treated in told my parents I wouldn’t make 30. I was transferred to St Mark’s when I was 24. Their continuity of care was outstanding, I am now in my 60’s and have three children. The Western General in Edinburgh is also very good as some of their gastroenterologists have attended post graduation courses at St Mark’s.
I hope you find some good help and support and send wishes to you both.
Thank you so much for replying and for the helpful information. My friend is struggling, still an inpatient. I greatly appreciate it. It’s all about continuity of care, so that’s good to hear. Congratulations at making it past 60 with 3 kiddies. That’s fabulous!!!! I’ll let him know. I wanted to hear from an actual patient, if that makes sense.
I’ve been thinking, have either of you looked at PINNT’s website? They provide help and support for patients on or about to start on nutrition therapy involving intravenous or feeding tube via nose or stomach. It is a good way to rest the gut and prevent malnutrition so you have a better route to healing.
