Amgevita and psoriasis

Hi I have been on amgevita for about 9 months now after my pancreas flaring up with azathioprine. Everything was going great until about July during lock down my hands and feet broke down. They didn’t know if it was linked to the amgevita or not but after being referred to dermatology it’s become clear that I have psoriasis due to the medication. I had just been out upto weekly injections two weeks before being told this. I don’t know what my consultants are planning to do as I’ve not heard anything from them in 8 weeks. Has anyone got any advice they can give me it’s really taking a hit to my confidence and mental health.

Your case sound a little complex I am not sure why you are on Amgevita. I have been on Azathioprine for a number of years now which suits me . I also have my full blood count done every 3 month. So far things have been ok. It looks as if you must get advice from your consultant as soon as possible. Your pharmacist should be able to advise you on any interaction between these two drugs. I am lucky where I am I can ring the clinic and speak with an IBS nurse practioner which I find to be a valuable support. Good luck.

Hi thanks for your reply!

It confuses me and it’s just my luck that the drug reacts this way! I’m on amgevita because my pancreas flared up with the azathioprine which is rare (typical haha!)

I get my blood count every three months aswell!

My consultant for both dermo and gi are talking to each other about treatment plans but I haven’t heard anything yet! I can phone my ibd nurse and get advice but I always feel guilty for doing it because there’s people worse off. Pathetic I know and I know that’s what they are there for. Maybe just going to have to bite the bullet and phone

The stance I take is that I may never have a complete cure but I can control some of the symptoms. In my case I know sulphites intake is bad for me. Therefore beer and wine is a No no . It is also in many ready made food , I have learned by trial and error. I am not good at following the Fod map diet, I only use bits from it. . Let us know how you get on.
