Joint pain
Research cbd oil that may help. It a good antinflamatory
I found I did get significant joint pain directly related to azathioprine dose.
Lowering with allopurinol helped -
What is allopurinol? I’m on azathiroprine 50mg tabs twice a day, I’ll try anything cause this pain is wild, between the pain and the fatigue it’s so difficult getting out of bed in the mornings 🙈
The whole IBD adventure is a constant nightmare!
I would speak with the IBD nurses, allopurinol is used in combination in certain circumstances - though it needs to be prescribed and monitored as with your current routine monitoring.
In combination the bioavailability of the pro-drug increases as such the dose of azathioprine is lowered to 25% of the prescribed dose.
Might be worth a discussion.
You are totally right, it is such a nightmare 😭 Yes I will defo ask cause I really don’t like being on Azathiroprine, I am grateful as it’s all the drugs have put me in remission but it’s the side effects. does your knees ever feel like they are twisted and ur hip feel like it’s gonna pop out at times?
I've found exercise helps. Azathioprine was really making particularly my hips and knees hurt but with tai chi and some gentle slow running I am no longer needing painkillers and feel better for it too.
I have had chrons for a few years and developed joint pain too. I was sent to a rheumatologist and it was determined that I have what is known as "Reactive Arthritis", usually brought on by chrons. I was on methotrexate but didnt like it and so was switched to plaquinil. It has seemed to help, hope this helps you
