MRI

Been told I need an MRI for diagnosis but the wait is massive around here so I am looking to go private. My GP agreed it’s a good idea and that I would need a small bowel mri with contrast. Has anyone else had one of these, and did it help with diagnosis? Also, I presumed my stomach would need including in the scan too.... what’s the experience of others please? Thank you!

Was this in relation to your results from scope??

Yes, biopsies came back clear, and because I only have minimal symptoms currently I go to the bottom of the list. Totally understand this, but it doesn’t put a plan in place for if ‘it’ flares back up

Small bowel! I’ve had an MRI before but that was just for stomach so I’m nervous for this one!! X

Because I think you need to take prep for this one an hour before and they also put contrast dye in you and it just sounds worse then the other one I had 😭 never had a colonoscopy before either so that’s also giving me anxiety!! X

When I was in hospital with U. colitis/sepsis, I was sent for a CT. I had to have a larger cannula put in for the contrast, and also drink a bottle of clear liquid an hour before.

The cannula was painless thanks to a clever doctor, and the worst part was having to drink that bottle of clear liquid on an already tender stomach! :) No problem ...and I'm a real wuss ;)

Don’t suppose you could enlighten me in English please 😊

Had a small bowel MRI scan earlier this year, in my case was used to establish if it had been affected by initial chrons diagnosis.

Did need to drink around 1L of dye over an hour - for me it meant a visit to the loo.

In case I would suggest taking some wet wipes.

Initially I was booked to have at the spire private hospital, but in my case the local hospital was able to provide a quicker appt, though was requested by gastro ward and not go.
