Hi wonder if anyone could help me my calprotectin level was recorded as 434 the consultant at the hospital was horrible basically kept referring back to my anti depressants like my symptoms where because I had post natal depression in 2011?!!!!!.
He was not interested and basically said I probably have ibs. It was actually my GP who is insistent that I could have Crohn's not just because of the levels but the other symptoms I have such as ulcerated mouth constantly horrible spasms and pain. But the cons just was not interested. Is 434 high? What should it be?.
TIA,
Leeanne x

Hi, Usually anything over 100 is classed as a positive result. I think you should let your GP know how rude this consultant was. Is there another consultant or hospital you could attend as you are well within your rights to be referred somewhere else. did you see the consultant before or after you had results?
Thank you. He made me feel like it was in my head and then to discharge me with out even having the results of the investigation. He must be a very good cons to do that x
mmm good is not how I would describe him lol. crohnsandcolitis.org.uk has a lot of information regarding medications, symptoms etc. and of course there is here too esp if you have any questions x
Hi, I had this done a few weeks ago and my reading was 911, 0-50 is normal and anything over 100 would normally be referred, I am having a colonoscopy this Tuesday, consultant has says with my symptoms and the test result of 911 he is pretty positive he will find inflammation, I would report this consultant to your Dr, and the consultant should know that with IBS Calprotectin levels are usually normal. Hope you get a more positive outcome.
Hi, just checking in to see how things went for you, as I mentioned to Leanne another good site to get info is crohnsandcolitis.org.uk, it also includes research into IBD and newer meds x
Hi Had colonoscopy yesterday went ok specialist said it looked ok but we will wait till the biopsy results come back, appointment 25th November to discuss results.
As I went private he said the next stage will be a capsule endoscopy to check the full digestive track especially the intestines, so I am being well looked after, but just wish I could get answers as symptoms just continue.
I've had my colonoscopy. They have taken 5 biopsies but part from that the colon looked fine on docs report. What does this even mean? So why is the calprotectin level so high and why is the pain there persistently? Awaiting Mri results too😖
Hi evertbody how did you all get on? Did you get to the bottom of it all? I'm currently going through all of this my level is 159 bowels all over place pain worry back pain waiting on my second result. I'm terrified if I'm honest with you all. Any info would be really appreciated
