Starting again, do you think...

Do you think as I am starting from scratch after 6 months off it would be better for me to begin week 1 with a faster pace than my snails pace last year as I found it difficult to get beyond a shuffle :D

Welcome back jennstron! Sounds like a good idea! I did something similar and finished week 6 yesterday. I found it all pretty easy until the 20min run and now my legs are starting feel so I'm glad to see they are getting a good work out now :) I've taken it a bit slower because I am coming back from 6 months off with a foot injury, but was still able to run faster than the first time I did the programme, but still slower than when I had to stop.

hiya jennstron and welcome back!

methinks it wise you see how you get on with restarting before you think about pacing it up a gear? dont want to do yourself a mischief and not carry on, we dont want that :-)

see how you get on then make a decision?

whatever you decide, at least youre back running, so that's great :-)

keep us posted as to how you get on

ali :-)

Thanks for the responses! Last year I was shuffling, i'm now 2 stone lighter and thought that might help lol

AuntieAli's advice sounds very wise (of course!) Try it and see. I'm lucky enough to not be overweight, but I still needed to shuffle all the way through c25k! I can go a bit faster now though. Your joints and muscles still might be grateful for not going too fast - then again they might just whirl round like Billy Whizz... Let us know what you discover - and whichever it is, it's way better than sitting down. :)

I re started last week after a 6 month break and started again at week 3. Seemed a good place to start. Finding it ok actually just havin to get back in the correct running mode so as not to end up with shin splints agaib

Well did run 1 week 1 last night. Was so much easier when i first attempted it last year. Guess weight helps and obviously the knowledge that I have run for longer than 60 seconds. Was tired at the end but I found that i was moving a little faster and only started to feel it half way through, plus inclines this time.

If only I could walk down the stairs today lol...feel the burn

Hi Jennstron

You are doing the right thing!

I am easing back in after 6 months off due to illness followed by non-running related knee injury. I am still at the "power walking stage" and aspire to get to week 1 in the next month or so (LOL). I plan to do it all again from the start, being away from running for so long an missing it so much and also I am now a stone heavier!. Keep me posted on how you get on.
