Today I've completed W5 R1 but feel I've cheated as I've done this on the treadmill and not outside.

Please someone tell me that it is still OK as I feel a bit deflated.

That's absolutely fine :)

If it wasn't I'd still be having 25 runs to complete!!!

Some people find treadmills harder than outside, especially the mental aspect of keeping going. Not a lot of difference between indoors or outdoors if you compare it to sitting on the couch anyway! :)

Well done. I choose to run outside - I don't think I could do with the challenge of running on a treadmill - I think I'd cheat. Running outside means I've got to do the distance one way or another or I won't get home! Anyone who can do the programme on a treadmill needs discipline! Good luck :)

You have still run the time you were suppose to too so indoors or out you still ran it. :-) Personally I think it would be harder to run on a treadmill, I think the boredom factor would kill me. LOL

Best of luck with your next run. :-)

Thank you everyone I needed those comments . Still can't believe I'm actually doing this so that's why I doubt myself and possibly put obstacles in my way like the treadmill issue. You have all given me a boost I really never thought I'd get to week 5 so today when running on the treadmill was the reason why I thought I was cheating just because I actually could do it if that makes sense.

Once again thank you so much will put those silly thoughts behind me and continue with the plan treadmill or no treadmill I'm still achieving I'm running and my fitness is improving. Yay

Treadmills aren't cheating unless you cheat.

When I am using one I am careful to run or walk with good form and move my arms. I sometimes see people keeping hold of the handrails, which may be for balance, but may also take a significant amount of weight off their feet. This isn't exactly cheating (and is much, much better than not exercising) but they might not be getting the benefit they think they are. If I find myself using the handrails I turn the speed down or moderate the slope until I get back in control.

What treadmills probably won't do is condition your feet for running on roads. I find them very kind to my feet, but my treadmill speed is lower than my road speed because I lose energy from the slight bouncing of the running surface.

Remember to drink water - it's much easier to get dehydrated with no breeze to cool you down.

Well done for keeping going until the weather gets better.
