Cantankerous cow and annoying rapscallion
Yet full of advice and constant companion
Bullying stranger who's mocking and sneering
Then cherished supplier of encouraging cheering
Terrible music like that You And Julie
And dance floor disasters are the choice of yours truly
Her voice like an angel you can't wait to hear it
There were times in Week One I would loved to have cheered it
Her tips hit and miss, there's no way I'm heel striking
And increasing my speed is just not to my liking
But 'bobbing' and 'hedges' proved useful and funny
My running improved, she's one clever bunny
To me she's a tyrant but also my hero
She made me a runner, from couch to three zero
A miraculous effort, she's somewhat amazing
I'm now exercising, not sitting there lazing.
Despite all this praise, I'm given to wonder
If I'm all alone in that often I ponder
In this virtual world, we've no way to decipher
Whether Laura's a woman or hairy truck driver?

As I sit at work reading your ode
I ponder on running, not my workload….
I try very hard to stifle a laugh
Quickly switching the PC to show a nice graph!
You have a great way with words, that is for sure
My attention and enjoyment you always secure.
I read with a grin and always a smile
Your blogs are so witty; I do love your style
A Graduate now, what can I say
Running at speed on the pathway.
You have my respect and very best wishes
As you aim for 10K – don’t forget those stretches
A runner you are, that is no lie
This is the beginning, not a goodbye.
There is no denying you are a striver
But between you and me….I go with truck driver

Why thank you dear Sue, your poetry's great
Both witty and wise, it's really top rate
To distract you from duty was not my intention
T'was merely to celebrate Laura's invention
Your colleagues I'm sure do not doubt your devotion
And won't take your mirth as a work dereliction
They likely assume that your smiles and your laughter
Are just one more sign of impending disaster
"She's losing the plot" will say one to another
And discuss your odd grins on their train journey after
They'll sit there and wonder just when came the change
And finally realise just when you turned strange
"Route maps and times are her only real interests"
And then talk of Laura and those new wicking vests
"Since Sue bought those runners, she's not been the same
This jogging palaver has her driven insane."

Fingalo, my friend, your words are so true
They look at me now and think my brain is askew!
Running, PBs, distance and time
Checking out Sweatshop in my lunchtime.
Shopping for running shoes, base layers and tights
Yaktrax, wicking tops – all things that excite
To them it means nothing they think I am sad
Running in snow?? That really is mad…..
So they leave me alone to work on my goals
To extol the virtues of proper insoles
What does she mean, over-pronate?
What is this thing, analysis of gait?
So as they go out after work for a drink
They ask me along but what do I think?
My first thought is “no, it’s my day for a run”
Out in the fresh air, just so much more fun.
So yes I am crazy, to them just insane
As I go for my run and hope for no pain
Because running is fantastic, makes me feel just tiptop
So whatever they think, no way will I stop!!

Ah Fantastic! Thank you both so much.
Oh by the way I am a truck driver, and a lady!
But only every other weekend when the house is free.
All the best

Thanks guys, just a bit of fun.
And Greeners, until you posted that link I assumed Laura was just an invented persona for the purposes of the podcasts!!!
If the poor unfortunate girl ever does get to see this ditty I wrote, I hope to Jaysus she has a sense of humour!

A nice diversion from standard blogging for a bit! Glad it bought merriment and mirth!! Thanks for letting me join in the fun Fingalo!
Oh, and Laura most definitely has a sense of humour - sending us all out huffing and puffing, going red in the face and ready to drop for 9 weeks while she sits back and files her nails..... feet up in her truck cab! No worries there I feel......

You're more than welcome Sue and quite obviously very able, it's a win win.
Good point about Laura, she would certainly have had plenty to laugh about were she looking at me over the last three months.
