Well, I went out in the freezing cold before breakfast, soon warmed up and was thrilled to have completed the session - but blimey o riley it was so much harder pre breakfast! This I'll stick to pre-lunch as I have more enerygy and I'm better hydrated! Has anyone else experienced this?

Yeah I struggled big time the one time I went out far earlier than normal; it wasn't even pre-breakfast, it was just before work instead of after it. Made it a horrible experience; I also find it difficult going mid-morning on weekends but not as difficult as early morning.

I usually run pre breakfast but always have a banana & cup of tea + glass of water before going out. I'm not bad pre lunch or late afternoon. But I dont run at all well in the evening. I tried running with a running club a while ago, they meet at 7.00pm so just had a snack at 5.00pm to keep me going. The running was easy enough for me but they kept stopping and starting to re-group. Then by the time I got home it was 8.30pm and I'd still not eaten my main meal, not good at all. So I stick to early morning or if at the gym using the treadmill its mid morning. i.e. after breakfast. I'm sure everyone is different though, and there's no hard and fast rules its what suits you best.

I like to run before lunchtime and it was nice to be out first thing as then its done for the day. Thanks for the tips, I will definitely try the cuppa and banana! Dont think i could go out in the evening, most definitely winding down then!

Hi countrykate,

I run in the mornings as well, I'm better in the morning than I am in the evenings and afternoons are just a disaster, have almost fainted when trying to train in the afternoon so have found that by having a glass of no sugar squash and a banana when I get up (which is about an hour before I start my session in the gym) and it usually does the trick.
