I have been very reluctant to go out in the snowy weather. I don't like being very cold and was afraid of slipping. However, I have seen people out running in the snow and so the sneaky feeling that I was copping out crept up on me.
So on Saturday I put my brave head on and did Speed in the sprinkling of snow we had. And it was OK. So today, with a fair bit more snow on the ground, and the encouragement of the replies to the question, 'Is it safe to run in the snow' running through my brain, I went for a run on our local canal path in the snow. I went from - ok, not too bad - to eventually - actually this is quite pleasant. I had to go quite slowly, partly because I could not see where the ground was uneven and also because the snow slowed me down but at least I got out there.
I'm still looking forward to some warmer weather though.

I love it and I think perhaps one of the reasons I find it so enjoyable is because you know you can't beat your PB while running in these conditions but you just want or perhaps the word is NEED to run. The important thing is to be sensible, take your time and if it looks icy go into a walk, far better to do that than end up slipping and hurting yourself, broken bones are no fun at all.
Really pleased on reading your blog and to hear you enjoyed yourself, cos thats what this running is all about, enjoyment.
