Still not running.... :-(

Well, no running since end of October, but am still keen to do so. Reason for not running is a very painful knee, which since I have stopped running is feeling a bit better, but still getting twinges! The most scarey bit is the noise it makes as I go up and down stairs! Have an appointment at the hospital in January, so will hopefully know my fate then. One thing that did raise my hopes of being able to run, was meeting a riend who has had most of the cartiledge removed from his knee, but has been told he should be able to run again.

I know very well that I will not be able to start from where I got to again (Wk9 run2), so it may be some time before I get my green badge, but one day I will.

Wishing everyone going for their badge the best of luck, and hope that everyone has a very happy and healthy 2013.

Caro

Hi

Sorry you too have been out with an injury, I am back now, I couldn't wait for a hospital appointment so had some treatment privately (£40). Good luck with your appointment and happy new year.

Have been doing some exercises I found on the internet, which I think have helped a bit. When the GP saw it, he just said, 'I think you will need surgery!' May try to do wk1 run1 to see if I can do it or not.

So sorry to hear you are still out injured Caro especially when you got so close to the end; right around the same time as I completed it if I recall correctly. Its great to see though that you still have a positive spirit and outlook and are determined to get back on track when you are fully fit to do so. Fingers crossed for you.

I hope the hospital visit goes well and they can give you some good news for running in 2013.

Happy New Year to you too!

To get to week 9 run 2 and then get injured must be so, so frustrating. Hope it gets sorted out fairly soon.

Incidentally, my knees have always made a racket when I go upstairs (my girls knew it was me coming upstairs and not their dad, by the sound of my knees clicking!) but it doesn't necessarily seem to link with them being painful. I am being careful not to push them too much though.

So sorry to hear of your poorly knees on a more cheerful note if cracks clicks and grinding noises don't hurt they are totally normal I'm a nurse who has chronic RA so know all about crap joints. Take heart I had two and a half months off but still came back to complete the programme - any how good luck and happy new year x

I wondered how you were getting on! You were only a week behind us when the knee problems hit with a vengeance! I hope you are able to find relief soon! My knees snap, crackle and pop as well as now, my elbows! Of course, it never could be caused from my age?? :-) Better to rest and go easy then risk further damage. I hope eventually you can start running again. Wishing you a blessed 2013! Gayle

As Gayle mentioned, we were just wondering about you this morning!! It is very nice to hear from you again, even though it isn't with the brightest of news. I do hope that your trip to the hospital provides you with both answers and treatments!!

Best wishes for a wonderful new year!!

Steve

Thanks Gayle and Steve, I do hope that your running is going well still. The treadmill has gone out to the shed to make room for the christmas tree, but once that comes down, I plan to move it back in and see what I can actually do. Walked for about 3-4 miles yesterday, and it felt reasonable after that, so am planning to do a lot of walking initially and then to progress to a little running to see what happens - may try week 1 again!! After 2-3 months of not running, have put back on over half the weight I lost, and can't believe how much I want to be running again. Feeling really unfit again and don't want to stay in this rut much longer.

Anyway, on a brighter note, hope you both have a super New Year, and manage to keep running throughout.

Carolyn
