Last run of week 7 this morning and I set out with low expectations - I'm now beginning to worry I might not be able to run anything like 5k at the end of week 9.
It's ridiculous really - I was terrified of running 60 seconds in week 1, embarrassed about going out in running clothes when I clearly could only stagger, and couldn't face telling any of my friends in case they laughed. But despite all of that I braved my local parks and pavements.
And do you know what - today was one of those happy days when the running got easier. I'd kept going very slow and steady, ignoring all the people speeding past me.
And when I got to the end of 25 minutes - I thought what the hell, and kept on running through the warm down music to see how far slow and steady could get me. Now I really know I'm ready for week 8
A slow walk back from the park - and I'm about to have a long soak in the bath.
I really want to try a park run in the new year - and maybe if I can keep this up I might be able to run for however long 5k will actually take me.
