I have finished wk8 run 1 and was so pleased as my iphone said 4.8km. BUT it occured to me that was with the warm up/down!!!! So I am so far away from doing 5km in 30 mins its ridiculous!!
I actually cried!!

I'm in the same situation! Just posted my blog now about only actually reaching 3.7k doing 30 minutes! Hey, we can run for 30 minutes tho! Better than we managed 8 weeks ago!
Cried?? Why would you cry?? I may be wrong, but I dare to say that you started this program 8 weeks ago with the priority being improving your physical condition and fitness. Granted, the idea of running 5K is a marvelous and magical one and a wonderful goal for everyone!! Isn't it quite amazing though that you are now running almost 30 minutes??? As Lesham said, isn't that better than where you were 8 weeks ago? Aren't you are far closer to the 5K mark now, than you were then.
Keep Running...you will hit 5K.
Steve
By the way, what do you have against snails????
I also posted to Lesham on their blog. As I said there, I think that you may both be surprised at how close you actually are to 5K!! Add on a couple of extra minutes for W9 and you will be that much closer!! You are almost there!!!
Keep Running!!
Steve
Thanks Steve
Hey! For now it's not that important the matter of speed, the important thing is to get to the finish line... That was Laura said about speed in one of the podcasts! You will improve!! You'll find your pace and then you won't be able to call yourself a snail!
This runner loves snails and turtles as well as a slug or two! I hang very well in the back with the lovely little creatures. no worries, you are moving and that is the important part. At my graduation and still, I am/was not up to a 30 minute 5K. It takes me just a little under 40 minutes to do that distance. Try to look at the big picture and go back to those first weeks. I bet you never thought you would be this close to graduating. Only a few more runs to go! Speed will eventually come! BTW: I cried too. it will get better! Bask in the feeling of what you've achieved! Gayle
No crying you have made immense progress to be able to run for 28 mins, I bet 8 weeks ago you won't have been able to do that. If you work on your stamina then the 5K will come, we maybe snails but at least we are moving not glued to the couch. No more negative thoughts you are amazing so keep running
Same here, but you are faster than me! Last time I checked still only 3.65k in 30 minutes. But you are out there and doing it and bet you can't believe you can run for 28 minutes non-stop, you should be smirking smugly! Speed will come ... (I hope) and remember the hare and the tortoise Good luck for graduation week!
I did Week 9 Run 1 yesterday, on a treadmill. First time to use the treadmill. In 30 minutes running plus five minutes each warm-up, I managed 3.97km. Booo!
