delighted!!!! You'll be surprised how quickly you are doing this without thinking about it.. It takes time but this is why i found C25K works because it makes you take time and build your running slowly .. Which after 25 yrs of no exercise was just what i needed.. 8 weeks ago i couldn't run a bath now i'm on Week 8.. tough but i won't be beaten.. Good Luck and let us know how you get on
Yep delighted, you are off the couch and have been running thats perhaps the biggest hurdle of all (not literally a hurdle in the programme you'll be pleased to know) It will get easier, I found the first week the hardest of all.
There are two words that shouldn't be allowed on this site they are, 'defeat & failure', so forget what you said cos your a C25K member now and have hundreds of runners to support you along the way. Take a rest day from running, have a walk perhaps to keep those legs supple and all the best for your next run
Be delighted you will be surprised how quickly you improve, take it from this 73 year old, I am tackling hills at the moment and finding it hard but I will get there. Pat
Delighted...definitely delighted!!!! As Oldgirl said, the hardest steps are often the ones from the couch to the door!! If the runs continue to be a struggle, don't be afraid to slow down a bit. Remember, a run is anything faster than a walk!
You can do this!!! KEEP RUNNING!!
Thank you all so much for your kind words and encouragement, I think I expect too much too quickly, so will just have to calm down.
Thanks, K x
Oh well thats 1 more rep than me I started today and managed 3 and fast walking so well done to you
Delighted definitely, 4 more than you would normally do I think. Don't get disheartened
Delighted! I think for some of us we need to lose in our head what we think a runner is. Go nice and slow...you will be amazed at how quickly your body will adapt. This is coming from me, not completing some 1 minutes to graduating this week. I'm slow...can't do a 5k but I'm a runner! You will be too!!
Thank you Kathleencyork and your right its more than we normally do. Keep me posted x
I'd say delighted as you have made a start.
Just keep working on it until you do feel confident with Week1.
It has taken me a lot longer than 9 weeks to get to week 9 run 2! I think I was on week 5 for a while.
Stick with it and you will benefit in so many ways.
Good luck!
I remember almost giving up after the first run, I really found running hard, couldn't breathe, but I'm so glad I persevered. This programme is excellent, it really does take you at a steady pace and, if you need to, you can repeat a week, that is perfectly acceptable. Just keep putting on the shoes every couple of days and give it your best shot - in a couple of months you will look back at this time with a big smile and realise how far you've come. In the meantime, you should feel delighted and proud of yourself for getting off the couch!
