How a 20 min run became 20 hours......

Was awake early this morning and excited about embarking on W5R3. It was going to be a 20 min run (the one we all dread) on a different route and to my own music - plus the sun was shining!

Did my warm up to Davina indoors, set my ipod to the Workout Mix, set the timer on my watch for 20 mins and off I went. Everything was fine, breathing settled down quickly, legs felt good and different scenery (ok, not parkland, woods and lakes like some of you lucky ones, just different streets!!) helped to distract me. Blissfully unaware of how long I had left with no Laura to tell me, I checked my watch and saw 19:44 - damn and blast, the watch had somehow stopped counting down I thought so didnt have a clue how long I had run for, so turning it off, I decided to carry on regardless until I got home.

Of course, once I had a chance to look at it again properly I realised what I had done - set it for 20 hours not 20 mins - doh!! So, still unaware of how long I had actually run for I checked the length of each of the tracks played whilst out and the total came to.....25.5 mins!!

So 20 mins became 20 hours but was actually 25 mins - well chuffed; it was a great run and I really enjoyed it! And this was with a cold developing too so not at my best... W5 in the bag and now I know that 30 mins is achievable!

Good luck to all other W5ers - it can be done! x

I miscounted the time for W5R3 too - nearly killed myself 'finishing' the run and then discovered I'd run for nearly 25 mins too - sounds like you did it a lot more easily than I did though! Well done, and now you've just got another 2 runs with intervals and then you can run to your own stuff every time for a while. I really enjoy making playlists for however long I want to run for - let us know what's on yours!

Thanks Mitts. Am looking forward to runs without intervals; its just so much easier to keep going (will I still be saying that at W9 though??!)

At the moment I'm just using The Workout Mix 2011 but will definately start thinking about putting my own playlist together once I have some free time.

Good luck for your next run!

Well done SBG, I think in particular because you didn't have the reminder there to keep you going, tremendous self discipline.

Thanks Jackie. I'm sure we can both kick W6 into touch no problem! Sx
