W6R3.. i ran 3.35Km in 25 mins.. is this average or just a snails pace? Starting to feel like i'll never be able to crack this running thing!
Too Slow??: W6R3.. i ran 3.35Km in 25 mins.. is... - Couch to 5K
Too Slow??

I make that just under 5mph or a pace of 12 minutes/mile which is absolutely fine. How can you not have cracked running when you have run 2 miles!
FYI I am 42, 2 stone overweight and running around 5.5 mph / 11 minute mile.
Concentrate on the distance/endurance, speed will come

Don't get despondant - you are slightly quicker than me!! And we are moving so thats a good thing
Keep it up, speed will come as you do more and more. I was even slower than I am now, but I've been doing a little bit of interval training (reusing the podcasts and going quicker on the walk/run & the C25K+ Speed podcast) and can see that over time there has been an improvement, however small it may be I have got a bit faster.
You are doing great, don't worry about speed you are building stamina at the minute. Good luck for your next run!

You are faster than I was on that run 7ermintrude, I only managed 3.25km in the 25mins.
But....... I have improved immensely over the last 4 weeks and so will you. Don't fret over it

Thanks all.. was beginning to think i was running in reverse!!
PS...mattaitch i'm 43 and no exercise since leaving school so i suppose i should stop moaning really

Glad to read some of the responses, you had me worried! I am not even breaking a 3km on my 25 minute runs. I'm averaging a 13.40 minute mile with my 5'2" frame. BUT, I also know if i quicken my pace, I will be likely to get frustrated and quit the program. I am slow...slow...slow but I'm getting there... Good luck to you and you should be very happy with your pace!

Whats odd is that 6 weeks ago i really couldn't have cared less if i could run to the end of the street or not!! Now i'm kicking myself for lack of staying power and speed of run!!!

You are doing brilliantly!
It doesnt matter whether we run fast or slow., it is all comparative!
At only 5 foot "tall", still more than 1.5 stone overweight, with a "generous" bosom this 51 year old is not and never will be built for speed! I didnt get any where near 5k on the programme.
But - hey! Guess what! I can now run for 1h 45 mins! Mostly non stop, with only a few brief pauses to put Boy the Bedlington on a lead whilst cyclists/other runners come by whereas this time last year I couldnt run for my train to work!
You keep up the good work, and only ever compare yourself with you! It is so gratifying when you see your own progress - but you know this already by now!
