How important are the rest days in between, would it be too much to walk on these days or should I completely rest....would appreciate some feedback. Just completed week 1 and found it a bit harder as I went along could be due to the walking in between.

The rest days do not mean complete rest. They would better be named 'rest-from-running-but-do-other-exercise' days, but that doesn't quite roll off the tongue so easily
Many other C25Kers walk, cycle, swim or do exercise/gym classes on the rest days, but if you're new to exercise, just don't overdo it. It will take a wee while to build up your fitness and stamina, but it will come.

just as swanscot says. Don't refrain from exercise completely, just do something else. Walking is great, particularly if you can build your speed up to the level of your brisk warm-up walks- fast enough to be just short of breaking into a jog. The walk intervals are going to be as important as the running stages for building stamina.

All of the above and I'm about to start the 'Strength and Flex' podcast which you can do alongside couch25k on the rest days. You can find them in 'My communities' at the top of this page. Good luck
