Does anyone else suffer backache since starting this? On Wk4 now and have chronic backache. Is this a coincidence or a worry?

Don't run if you are in pain. Sort out the backache first. It may be that you need new shoes, a new course (avoid pavements and run on softer ground in the park, canal towpath, treadmill etc) or that you are suffering impact damage. Get well soon :)

I agree with happierswimming . Make sure you are wearing the right shoes for you. My sciatic nerve occasionally play s up after running. I find keeping my running shoes on for a couple of hours gets rid of the problem.

Agree 100%. I had back problems for years, this year got more or less on top of them with physio. Before starting this (I'm W5R2 today) I was told - 1. get properly fitted with shoes (they're the most expensive shoes I've ever bought...) and 2. Never ever ever run on pavement, road etc. I've had no problems (with my back) since starting this, almost can't believe it.

Get well soon and good luck!

Thank you. It may be shoes then. I run on soft ground in sports field usually. Going to GP today if I get appointment as been awake all night with pain and have work later!

What time do you go running? I was running early mornings and suffering with back pain/stiffness as my body hadn't loosened up. Recently I have moved my running time to later in the day and no longer have a problem. Good luck getting your back sorted out.

Thank you all of you. I run different times of day to fit round shifts. GP checked me over and diagnosed a sprain. I have strong painkillers and using Deep Heat. He recommended gentle stretching exercises and time off work. I accepted the exercises but declined the 'sick note', I will be careful at work, no lifting! I will continue with the program as enjoying it and sprain was probably done at work by accident anyway.
