This might be a silly question but - what is a park run?

Is it just when you do your run in a park or is it an organised event? and if so how do I find out about them in my area. I do all my running outside around local fields and have just done W6R3 today. Thanks.

Debbie google park run and you should find the UK website about it. It's organised all over the UK. I live in FRance and I envy you all being able to go to these events. Have fun!

Thank you - I have now found the park run site! Wow I never knew this existed but it seems like a great thing to do, will definately give it a go.

If you decide to give it a go let us know which one, there may be a friendly face from here that goes along to your local one.

Tis the holy grail alongwith graduating! Ive just done both recently and the park run was hard, but fun and something I hope my family will join in as theyre very competative and get to beat me and each other and get their own time. I had wondered about doing a parkrun earlier in the program-but for me it was better that I waited until graduating.Best of luck.

It's a shame I live in Cornwall - as the nearest Park Run seems to be miles away - Indeed I'm struggling to find any 5K runs (Fun ones) in this neck of the woods...

Yes, my nearest seems to be in Greenwich or Bexley but might be worth a day out when I graduate - I dont think I will attempt it just yet!

Every person new to running should at least try Parkrun, they are fun, friendly and free. They are suitable for children and adults and ours even has a dad who runs with his toddler in a buggy, his little one loves it. I hope you find one close to you Debbie, just register and get your barcode then all you need to do is turn up. 9.00am England, Wales and Ireland 9.30 Scotland. There will be plenty of friendly people to keep you right. I get as much out of volunteering for a duty as I do running these days. Good luck.
